Clicking?

Well a small noise is getting progressively worse. Whenever I turn, left or right, I hear a clicking noise. Now many of you will think that it's the CV Boots, which It may be, however the noise seems like it's coming from the transmission. When it happens, I immediately look down towards the transmission because it's loudest there.

Any thoughts?

I've got clicking joints on my accord right now. Try this:

With steering at or near full lock, in an empty parking lot, see if it clicks when you give it some gas. i.e. in my accord, when i apply power during a turn, the joints click, but if i just coast through a turn, there is barely any clicking.

If you see the same symptoms that I described I'm 99% sure that you have bad CV joints. Consider buying a new set of half-shafts. Ken had a thread on hear a while ago about purchasing NEW halfshafts from www.raxles.com or something like that. You might want to PM him for more info if u consider going this route.

You might need to replace the axles very soon if the noise is very audible.

Ok. I tried the turning, ect. and it only happens when I am turning at 10mph or more or whenever I go over a bump in the road. Also, it really isn't a clicking but more of a knocking sound and I swear it is coming from the transmission area, but could be the axle too.

A broken part would sound different at different parts of the drive train. But all we are doing is speculating if you can not locate where the sound is coming from. You might have a cracked or broken flywheel if you are hearing that sound from the transmission. This is one has a very very low chance since you are hearing the sound only while turning.

Thanks for the replies. I have been taking note of when it happens. It only happens when I turn AND there is a bump or uneven road in the turn. So on a lot of the turns I make going to and from school, the road dips and at some parts is uneven, and I usually turn at about 10mph, and I hear this sound. If I take a turn on an offramp on the highway or turn on a smooth road I don't hear the noise at all, but if I hit a dip or bump, it happens.

Now it isn't like a clicking sound like I originally stated...it's a knocking sound almost. To me, it sounds like something is loose (transmission, mounts?) and when the car is bouncing it is moving around. I also put my hand on the shifter when it happens and I swear I can feel something in the handle.

Rear transmission mount?

Somewhat "common" on our cars after a while.

Could also be a ball joint. Best bet is to take it to a shop and have a mech. look at it.

I think that might be it. I tried the "turning the wheel all the way both ways" and I have no clicking. It happened again to me tonight and I am 90% sure it is right where the transmission is. My first thought was one of the mounts so that may be it. I will definitely have it checked out.

Thanks for the help fellas.
