Can someone tell me if they had a burning smell coming from their heat and ac vent. The smell is stronger when the AC is on and less when the heat is on. I though it was coming from the engine but I couldn't smell anything when I open up the hood. The smell still seem to come out when the AC or heat is off. The smell is so strong that I need to open the window at all time when I drive. Has anyone had this problem with their 97 acura 2.5 TL?

coolant issue? I flush my coolant 8 months ago. I have no leak in my coolant as well. If you have an oil leak, how can that affect the smell coming from the AC vent when the AC is on or off? Do you get any smell when you run out of AC?

if it smells like fish, its the coolant leaking.
One time, my honda civic's coolant hose leaked at a friends house.
It was going to overheat so I left it there overnight.
The next morning, I came back with a new hose with the intention to replace it. When Id opened the hood, a f***ing rat the size of a cat jumped out at me.
The smell attracts local animals.

It doesn't have a foul smell of fish or anything. It smell like burning oil or plastic.

I have the same problem with my 04 TL,there is this strong smell that comes through the ac vent after i accelerate for aa bit,once i had company in the car and the smell hit me and her real hard,i had to tell her its the car and not me because that smell was horrible,as if someone took a F.rt in my car,real rotten,i have no leaks or anything,when i open the engine,i smell nothing.

Still dont know what it is.

might be your in cab filter had the same problem in my 04 tl smelled like something was rotten and i had a girl with me like the other dude but once i chnged it the smell went away

It could be that you're driving pass an area that smelled bad and had the car draw air from outside into the cabin as opposed to recirulating. I would change the cabin filter as suggested if you haven't done so recently because it can cause a bad or mildew smell.

Spray Lysol in the cowl with the AC on, and leave it running for a few minutes. After that, change the cabin air filter.

I have to try the Lysol in my 1st gen. It is summer time again and the AC will smell funky again. Too bad we have no AC filter.
