Does any one have an aftermarket Intake for the 2.5TL? What is the name of it? Where can I get one? How much does it cost?

i have an aftermarket K&N cone filter for my 97 2.5 TL. All i did was take out the stock air filter box and ploped on one of these suckers. i know it's not the same as CAI or short ram cause we're not changing the tubing, but heck you can still feel the difference. I've had the filter for about three years now. it cost me like 30 bucks back then, don't know how much it costs now. It's reusable so it's well worth the money. It's a good investment. Hope that helps

where did you get it? online? you just got the head unit right? no custom piping? cause they don't make intakes for 1st gens? how much do you think a custom done intake w/ piping and cone would cost? approx? TIA

i got it at Robocar down in LA area and that was awhile back. i'm sure you can get the filter on any on line aftermarket store cause you're just getting the filter. Make sure you have the right diameter though. They don't make the custom piping for our TL's but i'm not sure if it can be custom fabricated. the reason being the oxygen sensor on the piping. I know that short rams have that little knob on the top where the oxygen sensors go in but our car seems to be very stubborn if the sensor was taken out. I'm sure you can custom fabricate the piping, but i'm not sure how you would go about doing it. I guess the biggest thing would be to make sure that the diameter is correct and make sure you use the right type of metal so that you won't be sucking in more hot air. Just my 2 cents.

I had a performance shop put a SRI in for me. All it was was a short bent pipe, with a cone filter on it. Plug everything in and I was good to go. It ran me about $100 cause he used a generic pipe instead of a name brand on like AEM.

Hey wait a second... unx979, you got one of those k&n drop in box filters????? Man i been looking ALL OVER for that sh*t! I been to pepboys, autozone, all that and they dont carry the stuff! they have k&n for other cars but not for our tl's/vigor. I even emailed K&N and their response was something like, "we dont make aif filters for TL's because there isn't enough demand." So should i go around and harrass auto part stores about getting the K&N filter or should i just email robocar and ask them to send me it? thanks..

They have the drop in filter for the first Gen. It says its for the 3.2 so I dunno if it'll fit 2.5s. Hope that helps.

I looked at a Weapon R intake and also saw an AEM one on the wall. They all look exactly the same. The only difference is that AEM has "AEM" silk screened onto the pipe.

I just purchased my short ram intake yesterday. It's a weapon R too. Got the silver tube with the black cone. Put me back $210.00, but that includes installation.
