98 3.2TL Seafoam DIY (w/pics)
Here is a guided tour for seafoaming a 3.2tl enjoy!
Step 1- Loosen the four bolts holding the engine cover down and remove the cover and place away from the car
Step 2- Turn on your car
Step 3- The yellow arrow points to the PCV valve and tube that will be used to suck the seafoam
Step 4- Using Pliers squeeze the two tabs on the little metal clamp holding the hose on to the PCV valve and wriggle it up the tube and out of the way
Step 5- Pull the entire PCV valve out of the engine block
g
Step 6- Try and twist the tube gently off the PCV valve, and when they are separated and then place the valve back in its hole
Step 7- The engine will seem to be wheezing at this point and its almost entirely necessary to have someone in the car revving the engine so it wont sputter and die
Step 8- Use the end of the tube to suck up half a can of seafoam- Its easier to pour the seafoam into a cup first, the engine will struggle and thats why its still good to have someone to rev the engine.
Step 9- Turn off the car as soon as your done sucking up the Seafoam and let it sit for 5 minutes
Step 10- Restart the car after waiting and goose the gas, its also beneficial to drive it on a highway and gun it a few times to get rid of the smoke
ENJOY- the benefits are immediate and worth every penny
One more thing- your check engine light will come on! To resolve this, Disconnect the negative battery terminal for at least 30 seconds and it should reset
I'm not responsible if you screw up your car but this operation is easy as pie.

It was for newer model I think, I had to drill a bigger hole and that sort of think, but worked out ok.

Ok, here it is.
this is for 2.5 TL
I used 1/2 of the can of seafoam thru PCV valve and drove car for few days and than did the other half thru brake booster valve.
I did not use it in crankcase or in gas tank. With very high milage (220k), I did not want to mess up my piston rings.
I used BG44k and Chevron Techron in my gas tank recently, so I choose not to use in gas tank.
1. I warmed up the car for few minutes and than turned off the engine and removed pcv / brake booster hose.
2. started up the car and slowely sucked seafoamed thru brakebooster / pcv
3. turned car off and waited 10 minutes, also connected the pcv / brake booster back
4.started up the car ( also be prepared to answer to the neighbor about all the white smoke. (For me i had to answer to my wife).

i used the seafoam also in the past.. in my case, i went 1/3 in oil, 1/3 in gas, and 1/3 in the brake booster..
i should have waited later to do it though cause i got very little smoke comming out of my exhaust... no clouds of smoke on the tl because at that time, i has just had the 3 step fuel injection cleaning done to it..
also used it on my GS300 and Sienna.. GS had little smoke and the Sienna was smokin like it was on fire... good product, but one of my o2 sensors went out on the GS...

Oh my Fu@#en God !!!
I can't believe this shi# works. You guys are fuc%#en geniuses.
Skeptical at first, I decided to give this Seafoam a try when my 192,000 miles 93 Honda Accord was starting to feel like it was going to stall whenever I stepped on the gas after coming to a stop. It was real slow, like it was starting from 3rd gear or something. People were sometime honking me at the intersection. Then I read this thread and gave seafoam a try, and OMG.
After all that smoke cleared, I drove it around and the problem is gone! Un-fu@#en believable! I can't believe this stuff actually works. Amazing. I then decided to add it to the TL and the engine is alot smoother now at idle. My fiance says the engine is very quiet. Thanks you Seafoam and Acurazine.

Ok so I sea-foamed my 1998 3.2 TL today 1/2 can in the pcv and the rest into the gas tank. (full with chevron)
Im not sure if I didnt let it marinate long enough... I left it for about 5 minutes like the can says and went for a drive. There was smoke but not as much as i thought would come out. Im going to try it again and let it marinate longer maybe like 15-20 minutes.
The reason I am doing this (other then all the other great things it does) is because I got a code (dont know the code right now) that said my O2 sensor was reading I was running "lean". I thought I corrected this problem when I put an octane booster and my check engine light went off. But after about a week the light came back on.. and i was back to terrible milage. ( the first half of the tank i got almost 200 miles) I also noticed i had a rough idle that seafoam was supposed to correct... so i went for it and did it... but it didnt smoke that much and i still have my rough idle......
only thing i could think of was i didnt let it sit long enough to really soak in and loosen the stuff up OOORRRR my sparkplugs are crap and misfiring hense not igniting all the fuel and giving the running "lean" reading.
Which brings me to this question where the hell are the sparkplugs on the 3.2? are they inside/under the square lookin things near the pvc tube and the opposite side? And which plugs do you guys recommend?

Thank you very much
thats what i figured... cuz there was NO other place they could be
I looked up NGK platinums and there are many varieties. Is there a specific model number or type that is for our cars? or will any work as long as they are that brand?

At a parts place- Look up your year car and the right NGK Iridium or Platinum plugs are about 7 bucks each- number varies by year and type so get the right ones
Do not buy anything else
You may need an O2 sensor- they do wear out
Rich-too much fuel/ unburned fuel
Lean- too much air/ not enough fuel

There's a vacume linke that goes from the brake booster into throttle body area. That's the you need to use.

I've done the seafoam except in the crankcase. Still thinking if the gasolines substance will have negative effects on the gaskets such as oil leaks in the long run, especially as they have aged. Any ideas?
