Just turned 124000 mi. on mine and have a squeal coming from under the hood. It comes and goes, and will squeal for up to 5 seconds at a time, regardless of if the car is moving or is idling. I've had the car for about 12 months and have put on almost 20000 mi. in that time, so I don't know when the last tuneup was. My local Honda dealer won't touch it because it's a five cylinder. Any ideas as to the prob?
Also, my trunk leaks. Thought my trunk seal was shot but it checked out OK. Was about to drill a drainage hole when I saw a post about a taillight seal. Is this a common prob and how can I check to see if this is the prob?

is it a squeal or is it more of a scream? does it turn off when you turn the AC off? i ask b/c i had this same problem for like 6 months and i have about the same car as you. i actually just got it fixed last week. also, pop the hood and try and figure out where it's coming from. mine was right at the front of the engine where there's 3 belts spinning.

Squeal could be a loose accessory belt, bad idler bearing on the belt tensioners or idlers, failing cooling fan, AC compressor clutch bearing, or water pump. You will need to isolate the origin of the noise. I have had success w/ a 3-4 ft length of 3/8"-1/2" hose used as a stethoscope to determine the source of the noise.
good luck

Thanks for the help everyone. I've ruled out the AC, and have decided to check out the new Acura dealership in town and get an all around tuneup. Want my baby to last forever!
