lookin' for a nice sounding muffler right now.
I definitely don't want a fart pipe.
I'm looking at either flowmaster or magnaflow?
Any personal experience with either? Which has a better, raspy aggressive sound?

haha fart pipe, that is good....i will have to remember that one. I got a cheap deal on a remus universal, and thoroughly enjoy it! That would be my recommendation. It has a nice clean drone or whatever, and does not sound overpowering or obnoxious when driving. There was some brand that real expensive and badass that some people on here were talking about a while back. It was on somebody's lexus GS or something. GTP of DTP or something along those lines. I wish somebody could refresh my memory. Im definately not the exhaust expert, but would recommend doing a custom cat back exhaust system or whatever if you do get an aftermarket exhaust. GL!

It literally got twice as loud after changing out my cat and a little bit of piping. With only the cat-back and the MagnaFlow muffler, it sounded great, and it still does. Just louder. Actually, my car is a bit quieter now with the 3.5. To announce my arrival, my favourite cruise speed is now 30 MPH in top gear to keep my RPMs at 1750. That's the most resonant point, . Highway cruising doesn't give you a headache, and it's surprisingly quiet if I'm not getting on it.
~Cheers~
P.S. Check out my vids on YouTube for some examples of my exhaust note. I might make a new vid in the HKS format because alot of people seem to want to know how it sounds, haha.

I removed the exhaust resonator and kept a stock muffler, it sounds quite good. Very quiet except for wide open throttle

haha yeah, i've heard a lot of terms to describe those types of exhaust. fart pipe, trash can, coffee can exhaust are just a few of my favorites.
You see A LOT of that here in houston. Lots and lots of civics with nothing done to them except the same little annoying mufflers on them. They all run the shit out of them with that type of exhaust on them too, its super annoying. My dad and I were driving the other day and we saw one and my dad goes "that shit sounds like a buzz saw" and I laughed. Thats a new one for me, but totally true.
Where do you get that Remus and how much did you pay for it?

yah lucky find off ebay, and i have seen it on there once of twice after. i believe i paid about 190ish shipped because the guy was desperate. New never used remus universal dual tip. Just check like once or twice a week. Shoot i might even check for you, and if i find one ill link it. Probably sounds expensive, but most of the time they sell for 300 and up even up to 400 and beyond ! haha

true that, shipping wont be cheap, but our cars are pretty hefty anywho. I believe the company started off making mostly motorcycle exhaust and still does. Ive heard some on bikes, equally as awesome!
go90go, do u remember that exhaust that was on a lexus GS or something similar, it was like a gtp or something along those lines? im having a brain fart. I remember a few members envying it and wishing they had the money?

190 isnt too bad, I figured a good one would cost me somewhere between 150-200, so I budgeted for about that much.

if you want a nice sounding exhaust that doesn't stand out or make your car sound like a civic you're gonna have to go with something a little pricey. don't try to cheap out. Aimgain makes a nice sounding exhause or if you can find someone with a Trust sp1 or in the US Greddy SP1 look into those. Other brands you might wanna consider are RS-R, and JP. not sure if any of these companies make cat-backs or axle backs so you might have to hit up a local muffler shop and get it welded on there.

@Ken, here's a vid where you can hear my exhaust for a bit:
http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=FNCihDvJdqY
Now, about the Aimgain mufflers, I posted two different mufflers that I wanted from them, one that looked identical to the one I have now, but costs $720 for one muffler, and the other one that cost $640. If you search for a thread titled somewhere along the lines of "costs so much" started by me, you should be able to find it. I'm on a 56K ATM so I'm not going to look for it, haha.
~Cheers~
P.S. Timmy, when I see your handle, I really think "Timmy Phone Book". I need a break from phones!!
