After 20 years with my 1996 TL 3.2 (long time lurker here - sorry I haven't joined up before).

The steering rack went south on my TL, and after 4 back surgeries in the last 6 years, I'm not doing as much wrenching. So, it's just been sitting last fall because I love it and hate to part with it, but it's time. The question is, where? Some of the options I've considered:

• Give it to someone who could fix and use it
  • The steering rack isn't cheap or a simple job, so I'm not sure how many people would want to attempt it
• Give it to charity
  • Not a bad option, but I hate to throw away all the good stuff it still has (tires alone are $$)
• Part out
  • I hit a snow bank a couple years ago and was shocked at the price of a new passenger turn signal, so if I can help anyone with parts I'm happy to do that for cost of shipping (or come and get it if you happen to live in Utah).
  • The only issue with this option is, what to do with what's left once it is picked apart? Metal recycling? Not sure if a charity would take it at that point.

Any other thoughts?

Some info:
169K miles
green, tan leather/carpet (all in good condition)
steering rack is shot (boot tore and now fluid runs out as fast as you can put it in)
ABS doesn't work (wouldn't hold pressure, took the fuse out in 2014 ... daily driver since)
Radiator is about 18 months old (A Jeep backed his trailer hitch through the grill and radiator, so the hood has a crease I never repaired - just bent it back so it fits properly)
Timing and water pump changed at about 140K
New starter in 2019

Sorry to anyone who finds this post and wanted something from this vehicle. After 2+ weeks of no response here I drove it down to the local Pick-a-Part hoping that someone will find it useful someday.
