Post 1st gen (96 2.5) FOGS YELLOW COVER

hey any one know that yellow cover for the fogs for the 1st gen? I just took my out. I am thinking if red ones would look good. Anyone know what that cover thing is called so i can search it up and see if there are other colors available? TIA

I was thinking of changing the color on mine. I think we will probably have to come up with something on our own. By the way....Red? Dude no way...lol. I want blue ones myself.

RED no way!!!! That would look bad. My friend took my covers off in the winter, and just put a hyper white bulb there. It looks good. A purple cover that would light up an xenon color would be real nice, not red.......

I had a professional Glass Blower make them for me. Too bad I lost one before I installed them. I put one in to see how it looked and it was pretty phat. That glass is cobalt blue pyrex or something like that and can withstand high temps and it will never fade like colored bulbs. Too bad they haven't manufactured that type of glass since the 70's. This man happened to have some left.

The ink would just drip off and ruin the foglight. You're better off just taking out the yellow ones and put whatever color bulb you want in there.

They dont make those for headlight or fog light bulbs. Only for blinker bulbs and parking light bulbs. Headlight & fog light bulbs will melt those condoms in less than a minute. How about Xenon? I'll try it later.

They are H3C bulbs. I doubt you'll ever get them in any other color. Most shops never even heard of that bulb type. You might be able to get superwhite, I forgot which company makes them.

......I have only been able to find super white also...I wish they made them in a different color. The bulb looks like an h4 buts is slimmer..... They sell the bulb at Car Trendz-301-762-5558, in Rockville, right off Rockville Pike, for a pretty unreasonable 59.99, that is the same I paid for my h4's from www.powerteck.com. I have had the bulbs for awhile with no problem though. The shop may mail order out of state , I am not sure, call and see. Make sure you know the name of the bulb, which I think is h3, or they will not know what you are talking about. This shop is not familiar with our model TL.They do sell the bulb though.....

do you mean the yellow "condom" like that blue one above? cause if so, there are two screws that you just unscrew in the assembly and they just pop out. when you do it you will know what i mean, it is realy simple.

If one of you guys do call that shop, make sure you tell them its a H3C bulb. A regular H3 bulb will fit perfectly but it won't match the plug. H3 bulbs have a wire that plug in while H3C bulbs have 2 plugs just like our headlight bulbs (which have 3). H7 bulbs have the same exact plug as H3C's.

The blue foglight is just the clear stock bulb with the blue glass covers I posted above. Those are the darkest you can get them, but they will never fade. The other pic is just my HID Headlight bulb which is Philips, I took the bulb out of my headlight and switched it just to see how it would look. You would have to buy a H3 HID conversion kit to make them fit the right way.

jz983, you're right, the bulbs should be amber or else its illegal. Mine are all superwhite, shhh... LOL Also, that HID pic is a real HID system, not just a bright bulbs. I have a HID system for my headlights. I just took the bulb out and stuck it in the foglight to see how it would look.

962.5TL, if you go up a couple of posts you'll see the pic of the blue glass cover that makes the light blue. I just removed the yellow one and put in the blue one with the factory bulb behind it.

on the yellow part of the thing, just push down on the metal part that holds the yellow cover. there you should see three prong like things. Just push down and twist, cause the base part has a spring in it. hope this helps...

He was from Michigan somewhere. He charged me $50 for 2 but I lost one. Maybe I'll give him a call and see if he'll make me another one. Who knows where his number is though. The thing about those blue covers is that they dont make too much light on the floor. They are more for looks then light.
