Turning my 98 RL into a street car
I’m that type of person that likes to take on wild projects like the title states. I know that this car is probably too long, wide and heavy to be a street racing car, but I’m that guy that finds stupid things to blow money on. With that said, has anyone else tried this? Any tips, results, pictures, etc would be welcomed. Some things that would help me a lot would be weight reduction, what engine I should swap in, what suspension I should use, and any tranny tips. Maybe you think I should give up on this dream and just make it look nice. Ideas there would also be welcomed. Thanks guys!

What state is it currently in, in which it is not considered to be a "street car" already?
Generally speaking, to be a "street car" it should be capable of passing inspection (if applicable to your locale) and being registered by your local transportation department. At that point in time, it will be a legal "street car".
An option would be to bring it to the nearest Acura service center and have them provide to you an itemized list of repairs to bring the car back to original configuration.
You can then choose to have them perform the work, or perform the work yourself (or at an independent shop of your choosing).
Good luck!

Sorry for the confusion
By “street car” I don’t simply mean street legal. I meant like a street racing car, like Fast and the Furious or whatever. Sorry if I wasn’t clear in the original post

Ahhh....
Just put a 100 shot bottle of NOS and some undercar lights.. that's all you need
Also post your license plate and where you live so we can have a better idea on how to best help you based on your locale

My thinking on nitrous is that it’s too easy. I want a big project to take on. Plus NOS only lasts till the canister runs out. That should only be used as an extra push, not raw power. Sure, one canister isn’t too bad, but if I’m running out frequently it gets waaaayyyy more pricy.

Ifirst would consider doing this on the 2g rl, just saying sh-awd!
but, in a 98, there was/is what is called a type 2 swap, but it is involved, will get you 75 horses.
you know a vtec starts in the 05'?
anyways, i would get light weight 16" rims in an 8" wide, with a common tire size.
i would delete a/c parts, only keeping the fan/blower motor. Find ways to save weight, but you will miss the conviniences.
i would get a true dual exhaust with test pipe.
if the 98 engine has issues, i would pick up a 03/04 engine as a replacement, and replace timing belt/water pump, seals, problem areas , and flush.
triple drain tranny fluid as well. Engine outside of car has advantages.
all the rest is unknown, like a cam swap, side draft carb system, bolt on supercharger. You can slip on a low boost turbo, and maybe get over 300 horsepower.

nitrous IS RAW POWER, you dummy!
strip the interior. a lighter car is a FASTER car. strip it down to bare metal.
then if you want more power, go FI.
turbo that motherfuck and reap 400-600 horsepower.
but that route will likely cost you $5k-10k, if you are not fabbing it up yourself.
fuck bolt ons...you'd make tiny power for $5k

Thanks for all the input, everyone. To those of you saying this isn’t a good car to race with - I know. I just like doing stupid projects like this. I don’t do it for purpose, just for fun. Just wanted to clear that up.
But it thank you everyone for your input. Some decent ideas here

In reference to my previous reply:
for or example I once took a severely fire damaged jeep and essentially built a new wiring harness and replaced about 50% of the whole thing just to sell it for 5k 6 months later. Put about 15k into it total 😂😂

I keep suggesting to lighten your car. Strip the interior. That is one of the best mods to do!!!!!!!!!!!!! And best of all, it's FREE!!!!
you'll get better acceleration, better braking, better handling all by losing 100-500lbs!!
Why you think all the fast Honda Civic's are stripped down?????
