Transmission - D4 Blinks - Any Ideas??? Help!!
Hi There,
I have a 98 w/nav. It has about 85000 miles.
Everything started 2 weeks ago. While driving down the street I stopped at an intersection, when I tried to go the transmission did not work and the "D4" started to blink, then the engine light came on.
I turned the car off then turned it back on and the "D4" was not blinking any more, but the "engine light" stayed on.
After that the transmisson was working fine again, no skipping or anything.
I took it to the dealer and they told me that it was a bad selenoid.
They replaced the selenoid ($500.00) and they told me that if the light came back on again then it was time to replace the transmission.
2 days later it happened again. I turned the car off then back on, the transmission is shifting smooth like it should, its not pulling or skipping, but the "engine light" is still on.
Do I really need to replace the transmission????
Could this be some electrical sensor or something else creating this problem???
I just don't want to spend $$$$$ if the problem is something else besides the transmission.
Any ideas????
I would appreciate any information.
Thanks,
Alex
