Things i wish i could justify spending money on for my RL

Number one id like to repaint it a different color. Id like to fix all the dings in the body, replace the front bumper, get a GOOD tint job on the rear windows, replace the interior to white, fix the rust above the wheel wells, paint the calipers so they dont rust (they were replaced, the new ones dont come coated like the factory ones), replace the windshield, replace headlights (ones cracked, looks like PO damaged it when they cracked the bumper) , install an aftermarket sound system, new rims and swap out any trim that needs it.

Anyone else have anything they wish they could spend money on for their baby?

its called maintenance.

why the heck are you letting your car go like that?

you are a danger to yourself and every one on the road..

keep up with the maintenance!

I bought the car used two and a half years ago, this was the condition it was in, anymore dumb questions?

Please educate me on what maintenance has been neglected.

obviously everything if its in that state of disrepair

2 years is plenty enough time to fix everything you mentioned.

All that stuff is cosmetic, nothing mechanically wrong with the car and you havent answered my question. What maintenance has been neglected?

Definition of maintenance

  1. 1 : the act of maintaining : the state of being maintained : support
  2. 2 : something that maintains
  3. 3 : the upkeep of property or equipment

The only thing REALLY holding me back is the paintjob and bodywork. For a good paint job and the rest its probably over 10k. Id rather put that towards something else. Its something ive been debating over the last year.

the paint job - is a wishful item, that you wish you could justify the price for.

the other items can be upkept for a reasonable price that wouldnt need justifying.

One headlight has a crack in it from where the PO cracked the front bumper.the dings and the rust on the body would all require repainting so its all kind of related.

GOOD tint is pretty expensive. Those $200 jobs are no good.

Replacing the interior is another wishful item but it would suit the navy blue paint i want. I dont even know what that would cost, probavly a couple grand.

The windshield doesnt NEED replacing but some idiot spit a bunch loose chips at me as he blew past everyone in a construction zone and now theres alot of small chips in it. Thats probably $500 at LEAST.

The sound system isnt neccessary but it would be nice to have better sound inside. Theres about $1500.

The rims dont NEED to be replaced but i have. Better idea of ehat i want now after having the car for awhile. Theres another $1000 plus tires maybe $800?

And trim is just not neccessary either but if it was repainted and jazzed up then maybas well finish the job. Not sure what trim costs.

The calipers i should do no excuse for that, not sure what it costs, $500?

Its not as cheap as you make it seem and none if it is neccessary really.

stop creating dumb threads.

The fact you even mentioned wanting to drop 10k into a 20 year old car is beyond me.

Fix your headlights. Fix your windshield.. ah it's a rust bucket anyway. just kill it. sorry.

If you want to do it right grind off the rist and surface crap with a Dremel. The paint will never come off if you do it that way.

its like maintaining a house.
there's no way, I would allow (or the HOA) a broken shutter. or unkept grass.

I could write a letter to the HOA giving them wishful reasons on why or why not I should justify the cost of certain things, but then they would just laugh and fine me.

too many rockstars on AZ

don't get butt hurt. We're telling you to save your money. Unless you're like Ludacris and have tons of cash to restore an old Acura, don't waste your time.

Drive that car until it ultimately dies, or buy something nice and new (or newer) and shiny.

Repair the cheap/easy stuff if you want to keep it. The headlight. the windshield.

Also, keep in mind, your leather probably has seen better days. No point in having a mint exterior after dropping 10k into it, while still having an old suspension, old brakes, worn leather, plus any various gremlins your car may have.

Don't take everything so personally. this is the internet.

Im not new to internet communities, but sometimes when people give their opinion they give too much attitude and need to be checked, lest they go their entire lives thinking thats the way to talk to people.

I know the car is old thats why i titled the thread "things i wish i could justify spending money on". I figured "wish" and "justify" were good enough to communicate that i wasnt going to spend that kind of money, but a it wasnt simple enough for some people i guess.

I am going to drive the car until it dies, and it gets inspected by a good mechanic every fall before winter hits and if anything unusual pops up. Its definitely not neglected but if the previous owner had of taken better care of it, it wouldnt be in such a sad state. Car runs awesome though.

First off its an 02 so its 14 years old, not 20 secondly "why you would want to spend 10k" these are good cars, they dont make them like this anymore and most people who own one enjoy driving it, you obviously dont or you wouldnt be asking such a foolish question on an enthusiast forum for this model.

Then again, you are just a troll as evidenced by your recent posts. If you dont have something positive to contribute to a post then everyones better off with you staying under your bridge.
