RL's ABS and TCS Lights come on after warmup

I've been having problems with my 98 RL where the ABS light comes on after about 10 driven miles and then the TCS light comes on about 2 miles after that. I've tried filling up the breake fluid and that does not help. The brakes work fine but I'm more concerned about the TCS light. Has this happened to you and if so, can you tell me how to fix this ; what the problem is and whether or not this condition can cause other bigger problems (if not fixed right away) ? Baffled

How many niles on it?? Could be a problem with the ABS modulator and/or accumulator..not uncommon..

Thanks Mega Moderator - U were right, the problem was with the drivers side rear speed sensor. Had to have the Dealer run disgnostics to determine that - not a cheap item tho - will cost $about 450 to replace it. Diagnostics cost $50 - so I might try replacing the speed sensor myself - part costs about $128. Only concern is that there are 3 more that can go bad. BTW - dealer said that the TCS lamp coming on is also directly related to the detected bad sensor. Car has 72k on it at this time. Thx again for the tip MM !!!

No problem.

The TCS light comes on any time one of the sensors is out. Good to hear you got that fixed

TCS and ABS indicators also come on after a few miles of driving if the hand brake is left up! Found out the "wrong" way.

Yeah.. did that once myself. I must have been tired that morning to not notice the brake light.
