Peeling shift knob on 04 RL

Well along w/ my rear speakers needing to be replaced.... I am noticing that my wood shift knob is peeling. Is there anything I can do to fix it? or should I just by the one I have been watching on ebay?

Have a picture?

Its probably as simple as some light 2000 sanpaper and some good clear sparayed on it and polished.

The knob for the 04 is different than all the accesory ones. All the accesory are just all wood and dont ever quite match.

This is a pic of the knob..see it is not just the clear
coat that is peeling it seems to be the actual wood grain peeling off... I though this was supposed to be actual wood never seen the grain peel off??

Well

Heres the deal. Only the center console around the radio and shifter are "real wood". It's a very thin wood laminate pressed onto the plastic pieces.

the shifter and window switches are simulated. It's basically a printing to look like wood with clear over it.

Since you have the black interior with the darker burlwood, the after market Acura shifter might match good. I think they can be had for 65 or so???

if you prefer the look of your oem shifter you can try this place:

http://www.american-stitches.com/

Send them the picture that you just posted via email and see how much they charge to fix.

Or you could let it peel all the way and call it a day??

cool.

if your picky about your wood matching, get a ffree return policy just in case.

that one looks brown not burgandtish like yours.

yeah I noticed that i saw another one that looked more like the same color but the auction had just ended I think I will wait for another I have seen them listed a few times, then again it probably wouldn't cost too much to have mined probably matched/ fixed I will look into that also.

I emailed them the pic I am going to see if they can also just take off the leather portion and make that "wood grain" also or just fix the portion that is already wood.
