Ksport direct fit coilovers.

so i have been talking to ksport for a few weeks now and they actually agreed to go ahead with the process of doing the RL coilovers. what they are going to do is this below both messeges are from them today.

I am still working on it but we are pretty close. From my research it seems the TSX which is the 03-07 Accord coilover kit with Legend top mounts is a direct bolt in but you would still need to drill the 2 holes if you want to use the OEM strut bar. So for the time being people can order a custom kit from us if they want to. I am going to try and source some front RL top mounts from a local junkyard so we can get exact measurements in order to make new front top mounts. It may take some time to find RL parts as they are not very common.

so asked them about the weight difference int he cars and he said this.

The Legend and TSX kits have the same spring rates (14k front & 7.2k rear) but we could bump the front to 18.6k which is what other vehicles in that weight range are using.

so bascially they are going to just modify the tsx coil with new top hats and bigger spring rate for the front. so we can have a coil that will direct fit. looking forward to buying these once they are done.

Not to undercut you or anything, but I'm kind of confused that they are doing R&D on a product that so few people are asking for. Don't get me wrong, it's awesome what your doing vipRL, but it seems weird to me. K-sport is a pretty big company, and the fact that they say they are doing this either says that they are terrific when it comes to customer service, or, they are just blowing smoke.

Hopefully they go through with what they say and we can see a final product.
Thanks for dealing with them vipRL171, and don't forget pics if it pans out

Yea def. I dont think they are blowing smoke cause tbey arent really building a whole new coilover. They are just piecing together the tsx and legend coilover. And make rl top hats and putting a bigger spribg rate on it. So in the end it really isnt costing them much to make lol

I still don't understand why they would go with the TSX that weighs 500lbs lighter than the RL. The Legend coilover is all they need to use and to modify.

The Legend coilover with the higher spring rate would be the best thing for them to do honestly. and all they would have to do is get the hole positions for the RL for the bolt on strut bar, drill those holes out and the kit is complete.

Seems like they are making more work that what is needed.

It would be nice if they took it a step further on the coils and have the lower portion on the front struts work with the RL forks, but at the same time, it's not that important and Legends are a dime a dozen in junk yards too.

i think thats why they wanna use the tsx coil up front cause it direct fit with our top hats but they said there coils is setup for both tsx and legend same spring rates and everything. they are going to ad the bigger spring rate up front. so idk we shall see what he wants to do lol.

not yet i talked to the guy a week ago. and this is what he said.

"Right on man, thanks for the info, that all makes perfect sense and falls in line with what I have been researching also. The only thing that could take longer and drive the cost of the kit up is making new top mounts that fit perfect for the RL. Management will have to decide if its logical to create new top mounts depending on the demand of the product and potential sales figures. The only downside is it’s not a super popular application. I will see what we can do though for sure as its always nice to add another application to the list."

so just waiting on him to lmk whats going on with his managment to see if the kit is going to be made for sure or not.

Drive the cost up more just to drill two holes... if it's something ridiculous then I'll just re-buy the Legend suspension and modify it for my car myself.

Otherwise I'll go a whole different route.

If they did something above and beyond and made an adjustable camber plate with the top hats, that would be really awesome, but i don't foresee that happening either.

i personally dont think its worth all the trouble, i just got the legend top hats on the tsx struts with airbag sleeves and drilled the holes for the nuts, bolts and lock washers for the strut bar...

the reason you would want to go with tsx struts is because of the shorter shock piston travel distance vs the legend, one of the main reasons many of us even want to get suspensions is to lower the car, so a shorter distance is better, or you will end up having a strut thats only traveling a short distance and/or consistently bottoming out, IE shock piston bottoming out on the end of the tube in the strut...

match this with say the legend,TL or other heavy cars springs and BAM! a decent suspension set up!!!

^^ yea man i tried to get a set done but ksport doesnt wanna do it nor do anyone else. seemed good to go and they emailed me back today with this messege

"Hey sorry for the late reply, we’ve been super busy around here with a lot of projects and getting ready for the SEMA trade show in a few weeks.

Getting the RL kit done is on the backburner for now due to many other projects having precedence over a new coilover kit. "

so that is probally going to be out the window. he did say if anyone wants to do a custom kit. as for say doing this setup

91-95 legend rear coils( since they bolt right in)
04 tsx front coilovers with bigger spring rate and 91-95 legend top hat.

so litterly all you would have to do is drill the 2 holes. might save a little bit of time

LOL, listen to 99blackhatch, just get the Ksport and the front forks from the Legend then you will be good. Now my car is going to last me only 2 years so I have to go with the cheap one lol. I'm thinking either the Megan EZ for the TSX or Tein street basis from the TL

I know some like the TSX and such... it's fine and fair of course.

I just couldn't understand the point of tearing apart 2 suspension setups to make one set up... when the Legend setup just needs you to go to the junk yard, get 2 Legend forks for $4 and drill 2 holes and you have a back up stock set or suspension later on and don't have to tear it all apart again to put the old set up back on...

I personally like to work efficiently and have a back up plan in case something happens. That is just me though.

I've done this before... you have all the luxuries and creature features on the RL. Going backwards into a Civic is a complete downgrade. Everything rattles, it's not a solid car like the RL is, and it's honestly not worth it.

I had the built EK hatch like i showed you guys in my build thread and I drove the RL all the time and would sometimes take the EK out... and i hated the EK. I will never go back to an entry level car after being spoiled in the RL...

Just my two pennies...
You'll miss the RL and everything it has compared to the EK and everything it doesn't offer.

EK with the B20b will still be underpowered compared to the RL and no luxury anything. Still with the nice flagship Acura and not an entry level Honda that everyone already has.

I understand that as well... money is a deal breaker at times.

Also... the RL has a lot of air bags to keep kids safe in case of an accident. more than the 2 in a Civic. Just throwing that out there... to sway you to keep the RL. Lol

Good, choice. You have made a wise decision by keeping the RL. This car is like a tank, thus it is safer than the civic, especially you had a 10 months lol
BTW, hurry up and get the coilover hahaaa.

Seems like a legit price. Keep us updated and informed. I want to see how this turns out!

Glad you're keeping the RL. You're better than a Civic.
