How to remove cowl 2000 RL - leak under glove box

When it rains water comes into passenger compartment under the glove box/. It's definitely just water (not any kind of automotive fluid) and it's not a problem with the sunroof drain(poured a quart of water directly into it and all the water came out onto the street as it should); given age of the car, the fact that it's water. he fact that it only happens when it rains, and the fact that rubber and felt degrade over time, I'm pretty sure it will turn out to be degradation of the cowl seal (also called, I think, the cowl felt). In order to make sure that's what it is (and if so then maybe do the "quick trick" in a YouTube video about this same problem in a Honda --
).

I'm pretty much a novice at car repair, but this seems like a pretty straightforward issue that I could do it myself if I could figure out how to properly remove the cowl (i.e., do I just tug on it, do I unscrew something though I can't see any obvious screws, etc.). I can't find any YouTube video on this, so I am hoping someone here can help me.

Thanks,
Ina

Rl water leak

Hey guys I have a 1999 RL and I am having the same water problem it is dripping all over passenger side under glove box. rug & mat completely soaked when car is parked and it rains. I dismantled the glove box and took out cabin filters and then ran a gallon of water from the sunroof down passenger side windshield and when I checked inside, white plastic cabin filter housing was wet, I also checked sunroof drains and they seem to flow well & I also removed cowl everything is fine windshield seal is perfect no debris anywhere , car only has 80 k & is super clean & well taken care of . any info would be greatly appreciated....haven' t been on in quite a while . hope all is well in the community.

This was an issue with 1996-2001 RL's along with some 2002 models. This TSB might be of some help.
