Ok, so I have searched on the various fora and on Google to no avail. Hoping someone here might be able to help.

I purchased a '97 RL-P about a month ago and am in the process of doing some small, yet tasteful, mods. One of which is the addition of a auto-dim rearview mirror with a compass. Should be handy, I think. The existing mirror mounts to the winshield directly with a button or cleat. This button is larger than a "standard" one which the mirror I have purchased uses. (Gentex 177)

Question: Is it possible to remove the existing mounting button without damaging the winshield? If not, is there some sort of adapter made to mount a standard mirror to this oversize mount?
