ABS pump.

Hi guys, I think today my ABS unit gave up on me. I started the car and the abs cycling continuously, like 18 buzzes in a row. After that the ABS light stay on for good! I restarted the car and the same thing happen, 18 buzzes and ABS light was on. I also noticed that the brake fluid level is low between the MAX and LOW marker. I need to get some brake fluid tomorrow and then add to it and see what's happening. I just check the ABS unit was $1,300 I don't plan to get it fix soon, money is kind of tight rite now. So is it still safe to drive around?
BTW, are there any fuses that i can remove because the buzz is driving nut every time i start the car. THX.

Your car your car should be 'safe to drive' as long as it's just a problem with ABS. the light being on means that ABS has been deactivated so obviously you wont have ABS but it won't be continuously trying to run and kill itself more.

Fuses, assuming you've got a 99 or earlier:

Engine fuse box: remove the 40A ABS motor fuse or the ABS pump motor relay

or

Dash fuse box: remove the R/C mirror fuse to remove power to the ABS motor pump relay. you will also lose power mirrors, defroster, and seat heaters if you have a 97 or earlier.

Cool, Thank for the infos, I don't plant to remove the fuse because from what I've heard if you remove the fuse for a long period the ABS became seize. So I guess I just need to live with that sounds

Hey Jerm, are you back from your vacation? I just wondering did you get your intake manifold clean yet? lol Damn I've been saving for a coilover but now i need to get the damn EGR and intake manifold clean

I have a 96 with 171k BTW

i am back from my vacation and i plan to take my car in for EGR cleaning next week! I'll let you know how things go.

i have a 99 with 212K. i just bought the paper service manuals (regular and electrical troubleshooting) and if you're in the general baltimore area I'd be happy to loan them to you. they are so much better than the electronic manual because they actually include the troubleshooting procedures (regular manual) and car wiring diagrams (electrical).
