2002 rl dash kit
Can't seem to find one, is a dash kit availible, if so where?
|
What dash kit are you referring to? Do you want the dash to fit an aftermarket HU or the vinyl apply over your OEM dash. The dash kit for an aftermarket will run ~$325 range or you can custom fit your oem dash for free lol. The vinyl is about $175 which can be found on eBay. Hope that help.

Custom will look good, seen it done before locally...
Otherwise you know the rules of "flag ship" cars... gotta pay to play. |
Man this sucks lol 300 for a dash kit is expensive, is their a diy for custom fitting the oem one with a after market diy.
|
Where are you located? I'll ask my buddy if he has any pics of the install he did on the RL he did a few months back.
|
There is no DIY. It is so easy and it takes about 15mins to cut the trim; you need to wait at least 24hr so the JB weld fully cured. If you want to do it, here are the tools you need:
Dremel JB weld( black/red tube) That is all about it lol pretty easy. If you are paying some to do it then I don't know what to say :tomato: |

Why would you want to do a dash kit? I think the dash is perfect in these cars and I personally would never alter it.
|
Yes and yes, you have to cut the stock faceplate out. This or paying 350$ is your choice. Brians, the reason why we cut the faceplate from the stock radio is to fit aftermarket HU and sound system.

Figured I'd drop this here... enjoy. http://areaten-one.com/caraudio/img/09/01k.jpg

Does anyone know how to relocate the ac unit just like the above pic? I tried it but it did not fit and the wire was too short to move down. Any idea?

Well, from looking at my '96 RL interior pics... the A/C setup was up top. The one pictured above was moved to the bottom, obviously, and was custom built and cut on the sides top make it fit correctly and have the wiring extended. Or... Notice it's a Honda Legend and not an Acura due to the RHD. Not sure, but maybe their setup over there is completely different compared to how we get the RLs over here... My '04 has everything built into the navigation system and is all electronic buttons, not a manual A/C setup like in the above pictured set up. Here is a pic of the old '96 console... Here is the interior from a '96 Honda Legend to help... Attachment 90012 and here is the interior from a '99 Honda Legend. http://img03.carview.co.jp/trade/img...0658841/02.jpg Completely different, but from the "relocated" A/C in the pic above, it looks like it was a '96-98 setup that was tweaked and cut down to size to relocate it to the bottom. But... the '96-98 also have the Hazard lights and clock control located above it and the '99 does not. so... it looks like an combo of the '96-'98 face plate since they extend to the left and right edges, but the faceplate from the '99 to the top edge. and I'm still looking for the setup that is located behind the "monitor" on the "relocated" A/C pic.

You cannot lower the air conditioning controls without extensive modifications. His are on the bottom because he has the navigation model, which comes with the controls on the bottom.
|
But, 99BlackHatch, why did you install the stock radio in the glove box if you have a new radio anyway? And did you not like the navigation system so you put another one in? It looks like good work, I just don't understand your reasoning.
|
Don't get this incorrect... That is a Honda Legend i posted a picture of. I randomly found it earlier today and posted it in here to help others. I'm perfectly content with the '04 RL's interior. I can only imagine that he switched to the aftermarket setup to be able to have a system that he would have to update every year from Acura, and also have the ability to watch movies and such over the stock Navigation system. But that is my assumption. As for the cassette played in the glove box, i guess it would be in case he / she wanted to listen to cassette tapes or use the cassette deck to use the cassette tape head phone jack maybe... but if one went to this much work moving things around, why not get an aftermarket system with an "AUX" jack built in? i'm not an electronics expert at all... maybe he needed to retain the cassette player for some reason and just decided to relocate it. Who knows. :)
|
Oh, I thought that picture you posted was of your car. Sorry for mixing it up.
|
I'd be very interested to know what the bottom middle button on the control console does for the Honda Legend. All the RLs just have a piece of plastic there that doesn't do anything.

^^a parking pole is an extendable powered "antenna" that pops up/down in opposite side of drivers view to assist with parking. it extends up to alert the driver where the edge of bumper is. this is real helpful parallel parking in tight spaces (ie, ALL of japan) hehehe
its really not that hard to fab into a us car to make it work. a bunch of half wise civic integra heads do it in socal. piece of cake. long as your pole works for sure...proving power to it with a wired actuator/cutting a tiny hole in the bumper to mount it. this is my least favorite jdm mod. |

I think it's so cool! That's like right out of Star Wars, haha. Thanks for the info. |
its just that on the long list of desired jdm mods...its about the last preferred to me. least useful/cool factor (to me)
the pole thats on ebay, does it have a wire pigtail? if so, shouldnt be to bad? |

This kit will work if your RL doesn't have navigation. It's $29.99 on Amazon. |
