1st gen RL A-Spec pics
lol
Well not really. These are pictures of my car though. I've tried to keep it as stock looking as possible. I kinda figure if there would have been a A-spec first gen RL edition it should have looked something like this.

No. Us 1G guys have to hang out in the 2G section or we get no love.
Thank you all for the compliments.
I try to keep it simple. I have a mild system build coming along with a little brake upgrade using a 2G RL 4 pot calipers and some slight interior mods that I would like to do.
Ken1997TL.... I did the led bulbs already. Kinda a pain though cause I overtightened one of the speedo screws and had no speedo for a couple of weeks.
Wish that 2004 Cluster would work, but alas the signal for the fuel and temp is different somehow.

Interesting, good to know because I almost bought some '04 gauges that were quite cheap.
And yes, i overtightened the temp gauge and had to tear apart everything just to fix that
All four of us have weekly bingo meetings and tea parties..

super clean looking RL. you got some interesting mods that i would like to do to my '02 RL also. so i'll ask here....how did you add that center CD player? what kind of body kit is that and where did you get it from? lastly, how did you add the "A" logo onto the driver airbag? thanks for your time.

The chrome trim around the shift knob is from an '04.
1st gen TL's and 1st gen RL's can all use that part. Its about $20 and takes about 10 minutes to install.

Isnt that the worst feeling. You put everything back together and then your like UGGH!
thanks for the compliments.
As far as the steering wheel....lol I'm a little embarrased about that. Its actually just one of the emblems from my rims relocated to the wheel. The 04 airbags actually have like a glosy black acrylic with the emblem inside ala RSX.
The body kit is Evolution inc, and they need to be ordered from an importer since apparently Japan has alot of KA9 love compared to the US. I used memoryfab but anyone that can import from Japan will do.
As far as the cd player...Its actually a half din dvd/cd player. (part of a system install not yet completely installed)
It took ALOT of work, and I do mean ALOT. So much so I almost gave up on doing it and cutting my losses.
As far as whats involved, heres a basic jist of it.
Nav screen needs to be moved up as far as it will go. Its about 3/16" and of course the trim needs to be cut and shaped acordingly.
hvac needs to be moved down about the same. (3/16 - 1/4") trim needs to be cut and shaped accordingly as well.
The tape deck needs the most modification. Theres a small lip of metal, on the top metal frame of the tape deck that needs to be cut. It needs to be cut in order for the top metal frame of the tape deck to be completely flat and even. The you need to cut the plastic front face of the radio along the top even with the metal frame.
Theres a little bit of plastic trim on the bottom of the nav screen that needs to be trimmed so the bottom of it is nice and flat (flush) also.
You need to cut the center section on the wood trim in between the nav screen and the tape deck, and of course new holes in the metal bracket that all these components are bolted to. (harder than it sounds)
After all that there will be enough space to fit a half din size dvd/cd player etc.
After the half din dvd player was installed and bolted to the stock brackets I fabricated a trim piece to cover the empty space on either side.
I also built into the trim piece for the dvd the volume control for a JL cleansweep and on/off switch for the navtool screen switch.
Its fairly complicated, but very doable if youve done things like this before.
Here are some quick pics of the progress.
Oh and for those who have no idea what I'm talking about heres is what the stock navi screen looks like on 2000-03 Acura RL's
notice the gap in between the nav and tape deck along with the absence of cd slot.
and of course after.

You did a great job too, it looks stock.
The '04 RL's navi and radio combo is tempting for a swap but I imagine the wiring would be a nightmare.

oh yes it would be.
The 04 RL has at least half of the wiring different from the 96-03. Its wiring is more closely related to 04+ TL's and such. Even the wiring for the fog, hazard are completely different then previous years.

I truly think this is the cleanest 1st gen RL I've seen in a very long time. Not overdone whatsoever. I still can't get over how clean that interior is! How many miles does it have?
Any other plans in store for it?

No trading for me.
Thanks though, I am the second owner and it was pretty well taken care of.
I just want to do little things here and there with the interior, brakes, maybe some JDM tidbits, and very far away maybe supercharger.
