I actually never knew there was a torque specification for the oil filter. However, this is what I go by, personally: Turn the filter until the seal makes it's initial contact. Then, from there, tighten the filter 3/4's of a turn more. However, I know of several people who simply hand-tighten the filter, with no problems?

Regarding the oil drain plug, IIRC, the torque spec on that is 29 lb/ft. But, I always tighten the plug until I know it's pretty snug. I've never experienced any leaking.
