Tires
Ok time for new tires. What's recommended all season? 2011 RDX SH-AWD

Can't speak much to SUV's. I have a lot more experience with cars. However, I put a set of Sumitomo Encounter HT's on my wife's Pilot last year. They're a little noisier than the BFGoodrich tires we had on before but they were much better in the snow and the treadwear has been good. They're #1 rated on Highway all-seasons for SUV's on Tirerack.com.

The Highway All Season category on Tirerack.is more for larger pickups & large SUVs. I've got Firestone Destination LE2 from that category on my Ex-cab Sierra pickup.
With a nimble, sporty, crisp handling smaller vehicle like your RDX, you might be happier with a tire from the Crossover/SUV Touring All Season category or maybe the Street/Sport Truck All Season category. They will generally be a little lower profile & provide better handling & a sportier appearance. You can read up on the differences on the Tirerack.com site. |
I lean towards all season tires because we don't get much of a winter in the southwest. I like tires with low noise rating as they wear because the RDX is already has a lot of road noise. I would look at tires with longer treadwear ratings and/or longer warranties because you will get more tire wear with sh-awd compared to a fwd or rwd SUV. I've been very happy with Conti DWS 06 tires on my MDX and plan to switch to these on my RDX when due next year. I also like the Conti Pure Contact with EcoPlus tech 70,000 miles tire if you don't drive like you stole the RDX.

I like toyo proxi r1a they seem pretty grippy. Low tread wear rating though.

Depends where you are. I’m in the Northeast and I currently have Cooper CS5 all-season tires. They drive well in the rain, but suck terribly in the snow. I’ve had Yokohama all-seasons which were far worse than the coopers.

I use the all season's for summer & dedicated snow tires for winter due to being in SW PA.
I have Hankooks for summer & Bridgestone Blizzaks for winter. I am pleased with both. I chose the blizzaks after watching all of the videos comparing winter tires. Costco has some decent deals for winter tires if you don't wanna , or can't DIY. |
