I'm interested in the size of the RDX. Based on the pictures I've seen, it looks small. Can anyone that has been up close to it give us any references for its size? Some info I remember reading months ago said it was something like 8 inches shorter than the MDX, but no reference for height. However, based on the pictures I have seen I have a hard time believing its only 8 inches shorter. Granted, its really hard to get a true sense of size from the pictures...

Didn't I read somewhere that it's supposed to be about the same size as the X3? Then somewhere else, I read that it's about 181 inches long, which makes it just 2 inches shorter than the TSX..... I wonder how accurate all this information is?

Me too, I would love to see a picture ofthe RDX with someone standing next to it or in it. Or better a picture of it next to a CRV, Pilot, MDX or X3.

Or Acura could just give us the specs...but we won't get that for months.

This picture here has someone standing beside it...if the aspect ratio is correct, and the person is 6ft. tall, I would estimate the RDX is around 54" tall which is way shorter than the BMX X3 (66 inches), the CRV (66.2"), FX35 (65"). This just doesn't seem right...

Well if it helps the diameter of the wheel/tire is 27.7" (I remembered seeing a photo of the tire, Michelin Pilot Primacy 245/45 YR 19 and looked up the specs on TireRack). Car seems to be more than twice the height of the tire so it's at least 54" tall closer to 60"


p.s. Each tire costs $324.00...ouch!!!!

These should be the optional "Summer only" tires. Elsewhere I read that 18" would be standand.

.....6'4" tall. That would make him 76 inches tall (6x12=72+4=76). So if the RDX were 10 to 12 inches shorter than him (which it seems to be), that would make it around 64 to 66 inches tall, which seems right around in the RAV4/CRV/ etc. ballpark figure which is pretty much the exact " typical crossover vehicle" height range!!

It is impossible that it could EVER be 54" tall. Even my GEO METRO (car) is approx. 56" tall. The Lexus LS 430 (a car) is nearly 59" tall. The Camry (a car) is also close to 59" tall. The Toyota ECHO (a car, and a small SUBCOMPACT car, at that) is about 59" tall. The new Toyota Yaris, another subcomact hatchback is 60" tall. ......so how on god's earth could an SUV be not only shorter, but waaay shorter than these vehicles?? ....make any sense?? .....Unless Acura has gone off it's rocker, my estimation is, that it will be right in the "typical" 65" to 66" height category and, around 63" to 64" range in the WORST CASE scenario!!

Remember pictures have a nasty habit of totally messing with perception of sizes. For example since the man is closer to the camera, it might appear that he is taller than he actually is, and the vehicle being slightly further away etc. etc. (....you get my point) .....I came upon this observation when trying to "size" the TL from the intial pics, wheel size etc. and realized that I was waaay off base, when the dimension specs came out later!!!

Well is there any picture out there with someone actually sitting inside the RDX? Cause the MDX concept was also a scale model of the production, perhaps it's the same thing going on here.

The height of the car isn't important. A car as low as an NSX is still plenty comfortable for 6 footers. The dimension we should really pay attention to is the wheelbase.

One of my friends went to the Detroit's autoshow last weekend. And he told me that from outside, the RDX is almost the same size as the Nissan Murano. He had taken a few pictures but I need to ask him first before uploading them to the Internet.

I will be posting pictures of the RDX from the Detroit Auto Show tomorrow or the day after... from the pictures I took, with a rep in one picture, who was about 5'8", and a "duster" in another picture, who was about 6'2", I am confidently estimating that the RDX is about 65-66 inches tall.

The rep let me onto the moving platform, and the car is attractive and solidly built inside, with a very deep console compartment between the driver and passenger seat (I was only leaning over the driver's seat for a few seconds, and that's what I remember - hah). Otherwise, the pics on the Acura site are true to life. It's incredible. Rear seats don't fold completely flat, but near flat.

It seems that it is likely of comparable size to the CRV and the RAV4, but for some reason, it appeared slightly smaller - maybe because of the lines or that it's sportier? Reps said that it would be in storerooms in June, MSRP between $28,000-$32,000.

wow- at $28-32K, they'll have a hard time keeping up with demand! Good to hear as I would rather pay less than more; but I hope they can keep 'em in stock!

NBC was running a show this morning covering the NAIAS. When they talked about the RDX they repeated the high-twenties to low-thirties price range. The graphic that showed at the same time listed 33K. Now we have two pricing models to guess between: either starting at just under 30K and going up to low/mid thirties with NAV and other options, or starting around 33K and going up over 35K with options. Either way it should be very competitive against the BMW X3.
