Greetings. Soon to be first time owner and thread poster. Did a thread search but the returned item didn't yield anything usable. About to purchase this '08 RDX from a family member and while testing the moonroof it wont close from being fully slid open. Car's at the dealer and settled on them dropping the headliner and manually closing for $300 (3 hrs, reduced labor $). Advised the Control Unit is bad.
Anyone try and replace the piece themselves? May have to opt for not using the roof in lieu of spending $1225 for dealer fix. Thanks.

the sunroof and all of it's entirety will most likey have to come out to replace the motor. if you can take out the moonroof/sunroof...replacing the motor will be a piece of cake

For like $10, you can put a garbage bag and Duct tape over the moonroof opening. Actually, use clear plastic so you can see out of it. Actually, that stinks. Not that I use the moonroof much being in Florida, but if it broke, I do not think I would fix it either for $1200. Just reselling the car would take a hit unless you keep it to the end of it's life. Hey, if it is deeply discounted or free from the family, can't look or punch a gift horse in the mouth.

Four years and I've never used mine. I leave the shade open but it gets too noisy with the glass open.

You could remove the panel and gain access to the motor and hit it and it should close if not sometimes ground or power is lost to the wires tapping either or sometimes will allow it to close one last time if your lucky
