rough shake/jerk from Park to drive or drive to reverse

I brought my car to Acura twice. They did nothing on both occasions based solely on the fact that no warning lights or CELs were on. Is it just me or does that happen to you guys too. (11 sh-awd 40k)

Only when engaging gears...just curious, have you (or they) checked the engine mounts? It's one of many things that can cause that type of shake. Definitely not easy to track down without a light, but if it's not normal I'd think the dealer would do a little more than look for a code.

Mounts haven't been checked. The senior service tech at Acura didn't notice anything. He had me sit in another 11 and he didn't notice the difference but I did. I'm hoping it's just a mount.

It would be unusual for one to be worn so soon, but I have seen fluid-filled mounts rupture before and they become instantly useless. I'm not sure what kind of mounts the RDX has, but if you check them make sure to check them all. If it's one of the lower mounts it might not easy to reach. Good luck.

I'm gonna have them checked tomorrow. It really bothers me how rough it shakes from P to D when I pull out of my flat driveway.

Yes! I posted on this about a year ago. When I'm backing out of a spot and change from R to D, I get a slight hesitation and a jerk into Drive. It's more noticeable from R to D than P to D. And yes, I make sure the car is 1005 stationary before trying to change gear.

do you guys ALWAYS use your parking brake?

...or do you ever park on any hill or slope without it?
