Popping the hatch
Popping the hatch
Any other RDX owners wonder why there is no button on the remote to unlock the hatch only (without unlocking all of the doors)?
Seems like another RDX "shortcut" to save money. Although I would have preferred a button that actually raised the hatch from the remote, there should at least have been a button there to unlock the hatch without unlocking every door.
Doesn't seem very secure to unlock the whole car just to get something out of the "trunk".

i noticed that on a test drive as well...i always thought the power hatch opening was for grocery getting soccer moms, but damn, its really nice to have when your hands are tied up and you cant reach for the hatch handle.

Colin, the doors don't have to be unlocked first...

if they make a button that could just unlock the trunk door... y not make the damn thing auto open... im looking into doing this customly... gunna cost me a fortune, but it would be kool and then program it to my remote start
and yes, on the tsx, if u press trunk opener first, the doors r still locked... but for my, i had the passive alarm programed in, so if i opened the trunk first, alarm would sound..

Wow, even my 98 Honda Accord's FOB has a trunk-release button which opens up the trunk without unlocking any doors. I'm surprised the RDX didn't come with this. Anyone knows if this feature is also eliminated for the new CRV?

i really doubt that the CRV would have it... i doubt it would have a button that simply UNLOCKS the trunk along... the accords tsx, tl, etc have the TRUNK RELEASE button that actually pops the trunk open... this is so that if u have ur hands full u can just use ur elbow to push it open and throw ur stuff in the trunk... since the rdx crv and other "5th"door on 5 door vehicles have to be physically lifted open by hand... otherwise it would be automatic with a push of a button, like the rx350, pacificas, crysler minivans, luxury sedans like 7 series and s class...
On my former TSX, I didn;t figure this out for about a year (thought the trunk button on the lid was broken) but there is a switch in the glove compartment of the TSX to disable the trunk lid button. Never knew it was there until i stumbled upon and all along I thought the button was broken... DUH!
Just need some quick help....resurrecting an old thread...
I have an RDX as a loaner while my TSX is in the shop. How do I open the hatch? I can't find a trunk release button inside, and only have the valet key, no FOB. I see from this thread that there is no trunk release button on the FOB. How the heck do I open it?

When the doors are unlocked, there is a button on the underside of the hatch. Just press it and it will open. The doors must be unlocked though.
As for the other comments, hatchbacks are quite often treated like a 5th door. Very common. I wouldn't call it a shortcut.

I love the fact the there is just a lock and unlock. I have mine set to unlock all on the first press.
(I never got the whole security thing. Just lock the doors when you get in if you are in a bad area.)

Found it just now. Thanks.I'm happy I got one of these for my loaner since I wanted to try it out anyway. It's on my list of replacements for when the time comes. I might have it for the weekend if my car isn't fixed by tomorrow afternoon. If that's the case, I'll get an extended test drive and will be going to my new house 90 miles away, so I should get a good idea of the feel of the vehicle. An SUV, no matter how small, takes some getting used to after driving just cars my entire life. But so far, I think I like it.
