It would be nice to get a little better mpgs when you are just in non-turbo mode on level ground. It helped a tiny bit and bumped my combined mpgs from low 17s to upper 18s to mid 19s once I added Hondata+ETS intercooler. The few things that really makes the crappy mpgs worth it is not having a car payment for +5 years and the RDX is still running strong with +149,000 miles. I love the look of the 3rd Gen RDX A-Spec; but, I love not having a car payment more.

I see this picture display but the earlier posts' picture did not display. Weird. Anyway, I can also get my trip computer to look like that when I fill up and then hop straight onto the freeway and cruise at 65. Then as soon as I resume city driving it goes back down to 18-19. BTW, I can see by your button placement that you have a MMC model. AWD or 2WD?
I think the previous ones don't work because they link directly to the pic in my google account, which isn't public. I just downloaded and attached it into the thread instead. As for the car, it's FWD. I do a lot of highway, but not exclusively. Took a small drop since the pic was taken, but still at 25.9 at 250 miles in. By comparison, the 24.6 is over my previous ~4500 miles (I reset trip B every service).
I've always though turbo (or supercharger) along with hybrid tech would be the best combo for low end TQ below 1500 rpm, serious mid-range punch, and upper rpm hp/tq to higher speeds AND excellent mpgs. I will be in line for a new vehicle if they come out with an 4th Gen Acura MDX or 3rd Gen RDX sh-sh-awd with turbo.
I actually really like the way they pulled off the MDX hybrid. Added functionality, power, mpg, without sacrificing any interior space. Was hoping for a similar offering with the 3G RDX...who knows, maybe it's in the pipeline.
I would say it's a product of my environment as much, if not more so than my driving style or vehicle maintenance. I've noticed that the smoothness of the road and driving in traffic can actually play huge roles in my fuel economy. I feel like when I'm on a highway that's busy, but still moving quickly, it almost forms a wind tunnel effect. Almost like drafting but I'm not riding the ass of the car in front of me. Steady state cruising at 70-75 mph will top 30mpg easily.
The roads here are also all rubberized and smooth. No concrete grooves or rough asphalt to steal my momentum. When I take the 10 from Phoenix to LA I usually average an indicated 25-26 mpg, and yet from Phoenix to San Diego I get maybe 23-24. I drove from LA to San Francisco and got 21, but I was also driving straight into a 20mph headwind almost the entire time. The 10 is also a lot better maintained than the 8 (although the 8 has been getting lots of overdue love over the past few years)...I never get mileage like this outside of AZ.
I wish Acura would make an "ECO" fwd mode for the 3rd Gen RDX. They can turn the sh-awd 3rd Gen RDX into a slip-n-grip system in ECO mode to help with drivetrain loss and improve mpgs. I sometimes spend 4-12 hours on road traveling and it would be nice to get 2-6 mpg better in 100% fwd mode in the middle of summer. I love the performance and handling of sh-awd; but, I really need fwd 99% of the time.

They can do an ECO, Normal, Sport, and Sport+ modes on the IDS setting. I planning a trip to L.A. from NM in the middle of April in my MDX. I usually get mid teens mpgs while there because of the traffic. I would be a nice feature for future vehicles to change to ECO mode when I'm in southern CA with gas prices can be $1-$1.50 more than New Mexico prices.
It would be interesting if the new RDX had a clutch that could de-couple the rears when in an "eco" mode, while leaving them permanently engaged in all other modes. Would be nice to be able to squeeze every bit of efficiency out of the engine. Ultimately my expectation on fuel economy for this new gen is that a 3G SH-AWD will get better fuel economy than a 2G FWD.

You should be happy with your MPG. It's one of the best I've seen. If I end up getting 21+ MPG on a tank, I'm happy. The problem is I drive mostly either city or highway with stop and go traffic. It's rare that I can drive at 65 MPH continuously for extended periods.

On my 2010 RDX 2WD I average around 27 highway on my commute to work and home. I live in South Richmond, Va and travel around 25 miles to work each way. I don't have a heavy foot but I do between 70-75mph on these drives.
Nice! Mine has taken a bit of a hit because I blast the a/c any time I'm in the car (Phoenix), but still around 24 indicated. My average speed usually ends up around 40 on any given tank.
