Fare Thee Well, Acura!

Well, after owning three Acuras ('92 Legend, '94 Vigor, '09 RDX base) and three Hondas before that ('83, '85, '89 Accords, the last two SEis), I'm moving on from the brand. The model that I want (mid-size crossover) no longer stimulates me, too much a Mommy-mobile. I was bummed when they killed the turbo engine in the 1st gen RDX and the styling got too plump for me. I may come back someday...who knows?

That said, I have nothing but good things to say about the RDX. I've owned it for about 100k miles (now 131k miles). Nothing ever went bad other than normal wear items. The one problem, that made my decision to move on from it easier, is the AC compressor. After changing the relay twice, the compressor is recently going off and on intermittently when I want AC. The good news is I gave it to my niece, a new driver who just loves it. I'm sure it'll run for many more good years of motoring, until she loses the HS parking lot bumper card derby.

The engine was well matched to the transmission, never made a wrong move. Not great in the snow even with the SH-AWD but competent enough. Still disappointed they killed it and did not resurrect a turbo 4 until the '18 A-spec. Think they missed the driver market in that vehicle class.

Fare thee well, friends. See you on the road!
