Did I get a good deal???
Greetings! I'm new to this forum, and really new to Acura. I'm looking forward to spending some time in here.
I've had a 2007 RDX Base (first year for that model) for two years and just traded it in at 85,000 miles for a 2010 RDX with Technology. I really love the RDX and the turbo engine. It's fun to drive and also a high quality SUV.
I checked NADA and KBB, and the highest trade in value for the 2007 was $14,100. The Retail value for the 2010 ranged from $28,200 to $29,700. After some rounds of back and forth we settled on $14,000 for my trade and $28,200 for the 2010.
What do you think? Did I get a decent deal? For some reason I think I got screwed and it's really bugging me.
I hate dealing with car dealers, especially on a used car. I couldn't get them to compete because there were only two for sale in all of Utah, and the second was an hour drive for me. At lease with new you can get them competing on the same car and options.
Thanks for reading this and also thanks for your thoughts.

I think that it will continue to bug you whether you got a good deal or not, it's just part of buying a car. Just know that based on the numbers you posted, at least in theory, you got a fair deal....
And don't worry about the people that will come and tell you that they got a better deal than you....those are the ones that will always say they will outdrink you, outsmart you and that their penis is bigger than yours

If you bought it already then you must've felt it was a good or fair price.
I think it's kinda pointless to ask after the fact. If someone was to say you over paid by $1000 or something, it's not like you can go back and renegotiate a better price, right? I say don't look back and just enjoy the car.

As a former salesman, if anything, they gave you a great price on your car and not so great on the car you bought. Standard procedure, find out what the buyer wants, pay lowest possible price or highest possible trade value, or lowest payment or lowest APR, whatever makes you "feel" like you got a good deal. Often times, people get both, but they to be clever and respectful.
