I'm planning on getting & installing stainless steel brake lines & doing a complete fluid flush/change.
Of course Honda only recommends Honda Heavy Duty Dot 3 fluid. But there are newer fluids, such as:
Dot 3 Synthetic
Dot 4
Dot 4 Synthetic
Dot 5.1

I personally would stick with OEM fluid if you're going to be doing "OEM" driving (no road course, heavy towing, etc.) I believe 3, 4 and 5.1 (*not* 5) are compatible in that they can be safely mixed. To my knowledge, the other fluids have higher boiling points, but I don't know what other properties differ between the specs (not to mention prices). Still, Honda spec'd their cars out for a reason, and I tend to stick with their recommended items when I'm staying within the normal use of the vehicle.
