2008rdx - parasitic draw & malfunctioning rear hatch lock
Hi, I have a 2008 rdx and recently got a parasitic draw that was killing the battery. I narrowed it down to fuse 23 (backup power). Things are fine when i pull the fuse and i've been driving it around without it, but now i have no radio/electronics/nav etc. I am about to take it to a place to get it diagnosed as to the exact cause of the draw. Before that i was wondering if anyone here had a few thoughts on this matter - garage electrical diagnosis in my area goes for around $90-$100/hour CAD.
Also, the rear hatch lock is constantly engaging/disengaging and causing the hatch warning light to come on while driving. The rear hatch will then be slightly ajar and i have to push on the hatch it to lock again, then 1 minute later it will unlock. The only way to fix it temporarily is to pull fuse 25(car door locks), so now all door locks are manual. Are these 2 problems related or do i just have 2 different problems? |
90% chance the parasitic draw is from your Hands Free Link (Bluetooth) module because that is a very common issue on these vehicles. You can just unplug the module and everything else will still work.

Yes that was the first thing i tried when i started researching the issue. Unplugging it didn't fix it
Also, HFL isn't connected to fuse 23, it's fuse 35... but i'm no expert maybe there is some relation? |
when you lock the doors with the fob does the car beep?
|
I have the same problem, measured around .3 to .5 A drain on the battery with the car off, down to 0 when fuse 23 was removed ( i unplugged the HFL and it dropped slightly before i tried fuse 23)

Replace the trunk lock actuator
|
I had the same issue in my 2010. The lock kept getting stuck in the depressed position which caused a phantom draw. I replaced the lock actuator and no more issues. $500 part.

$500 😓
