Hey all! My mother-in-law just got a 2008 RDX from Carmax. She prefers running the headlights all the time, so we left the headlights turned on when we brought it home. There is no "Auto" setting on this model. It is either Off, Parking, or ON. The menu allows you to set a time for auto-off of the lights. Default is 15 seconds. A couple days later, when she tried to start the car, it was dead. No sounds at all. This tells me the battery was drained. She called Carmax, and they sent a tow truck to pick it up. They said it was the battery, and replaced it. Obviously they did not actually test the battery or try to figure out WHY it drained.
So once they brought it back to us, I checked it out. They had turned the headlights to the OFF position. I went into the configuration menu and told it to reset everything to defaults. I made sure the auto-off time was set to 15 seconds. I started the car, turned the headlights to ON, turned off the car, got out, locked it, and walked away. Waited a couple minutes, and the lights were all still on! Headlights, taillights, etc. They are SUPPOSED to turn OFF after 15 seconds.
Additionally, I read in the manual, and verified in the system menu, that the system should make a tone noise when you open the door if the light switch is in the ON position. It doe NOT do this.
So what part needs replacing? Is it a relay or a fuse? If anyone knows and can tell me where the correct part is located, and how to test it. I have a multimeter I can use to test if needed. I also know I might be able to swap relays to test, but need to know which relay it is! Thank you so much!
