2008 RDX "Check charging system" light on dash

Hey,
I have a '08 RDX with 120k miles. The battery is about 2 years old, the alternator was replaced about a month ago. The yellow light in the center of the dash will flash: "CHeck charging system" occaisionally. The alternator is sending 14 volts to the battery. I did a code scan at Oriellys: No codes related to the charging system.

Has anyone else seen this?
Thx,
Rog

I'm thinking tensioner or the belt is slipping occasionally, causing the alternator to not produce optimal voltage constantly.

Agreed...either tensioner or maybe even the belt itself. Not sure how prone they are to stretching as they age, but at 120k / 9 years, it may be worth replacing.

Folks,

Thanks for the responses. The belt was replaced with the alternator. Is there a belt dressing for this sort of problem?

Thx

Belt dressing doesn't fix the problem. If the belt was replaced with the alternator, it is unlikely to be the cause, and if the tensioner was weak I'm sure the mechanic would have tried to sell & install you a new one.
Try cleaning your battery posts & cable connections real good.

Are you only getting the warning after starting the RDX after it sits for a while like overnight or over a weekend? It could have a power drain somewhere if that is the case.

If you have a power drain check the Bluetooth module. You may have a faulty one and it stays on even when your RDX is off. Also I had the same issue but ever since I bought an optima yellow top battery I haven't had a single issue.
