Smile 71,000 miles, purchase a warranty?

Hello all,
I am a new owner of a 2009 RDX Tech package with 71,000 miles. I am coming from a 2012 VW Tiguan that I had for a year and into the shop 3 times with over $7,000 in mechanical repairs covered under the extended warranty.
I traded it in for the RDX and did buy the warranty after the Tiguan experience.

I have 30 days to cancel, $2500 for 24,0000 miles.

Looking for guidance from Acura veterans on keep warranty or cancel?

Thank you for your input!

Also, any quirks/easy upgrades I can do before I spend the next week going thru all the threads?

If you want it for the piece of mind. The warranty expires at 100k? You're just starting to break it in at 100k.

I'm pretty sure you will not have issues like you did with your VW.

My in laws are having issues with their VW currently, and I keep telling them just to get rid of it. $1200 dollars just to get things fixed so it can pass smog, and it still is having a hard time passing.

I have an 08 RDX with +140,XXX. I skipped the extended warranty and didn't have any issues that would have been covered during my 70,XXX to 100,XXX range. The issue I've had after 100K were:
- alternator
- replaced front/rear struts/shocks (my RDX was lowered on Eibach springs since 30K)
- driver side sun visor
- driver side door actuator
- replace center console armrest cover

The only issue I can think of that might happen along with what I listed above during the warranty time are:
- A/C clutch (Acura has an 100,000 extended warranty for this, double-check to see if your 09 didn't age out)
- power steering pump
- power steering rack
- navi CD reader
- HID ballast or bulb

I don't see all those things going bad in 24,000 miles? You might have to check to make sure what is and is not covered with the dealer's warranty. It only cost me $100 to purchase a used power steering pump on eBay and another $100 for a local shop to install for my 06 TSX last summer.

Is that an actual, honest-to-goodness, genuine Acura Care warranty, or some third party deal, like something from the dealer themselves? Generally speaking, the latter are not worth the paper they are printed on. Unlikely you will need $2500 worth of repairs in the next couple of years, at that low mileage.

Personally, if I knew the car was well-cared for, I would forgo the warranty. Of course anything is possible and if you do need it, good luck getting them to cover problems, if it's not Acura's warranty. I'd make sure I was crystal clear that the warranty was Acura Care, which would make me feel better at least.

Thank you everyone!

Yes, it is a 3rd party warranty.

$2,500 would likely cover anything that might go wrong in the next 24,000 miles
