Maybe you should start thinking of selling this car. At some
point you need to draw a line, I know every repair feel like its a last one, but it only gets worse. For example, You alternator goes and its a $1000 you could have put into a new car instead. Over 200k is a good time to think about it if you can aford it.

I'm just getting used to having it, really...

I don't want/like anything else either. I haven't had any major repairs in almost a year and I vie to have the highest milage RDX ultimately!

I'm also planning on trading my 2011 Kia for a 2007 Honda Accord because I've been dying to have one for almost 5 years now and still haven't done that.

I understand what you mean, and how that is what you should do, so I'm not going to take it out on you, but this may be the worst thing anyone has told me in years, one again, It's cool man! Thanks for checking out my thread. Sorry I sounded like a jerk, I don't mean it that way, it's just that the idea defies my future plans, that's all...

Personally, if repairs don't exceed about $1000/year I find that acceptable, provided that the car itself generally feels tight and is not falling apart around me.

No man, most of the repairs have been maitance items, like suspension, waterpump, starter, nothing crazy... There was just a spell when everything needed to be replaced over the course of about 12 months. Actually, I just got this RDX three years ago at 175K so I haven't really had it all that long, really. The Kia Sportage it replaced we had for seven years and would still have it had that not happened

I plan to drive it until we get something newer, and by then, I should be making more money. At this point, I plan to fully restore the RDX (paint/leather/anything else) and garage queen it!

I've put 2K miles on it in the last 10 days. 500 miles just yesterday!

I am not trying to be a jerk or anything, I myself drive 2008 with 182k miles and plan to keep it for a year or so. I am just doing a little reality check. Didnít you have an oil leak? Yes, itís not major but you also replaced other things and you have other small things popping out here and there. If you like the car, sure keep it, but do an honest cost analysis and tally up the totals spent for repair. Engine will go 400k+, itís Honda. Itís all the other stuff that sucks the money. My car trade in $1500-2000, suspension is OK, but not as it used to be. I also need new tires in a year (thatís like $800-1000). Why should I fork 2-3k for tires and suspension which is more than car value. All that repair money could be going towards new car payments. thatís how I look at it anyway.

First. I can afford occasional maitance, but not monthly payments, also, I don't like new cars.

Holy Shi! That is a lot of miles. I know you said you bought it at 175k, but damn, I guess I do not like to drive that much. At my pace of putting on 4K a year, from the 55k I have on a 2011 now, it would take me close to 45 years to hit 225k miles. I guess I will be dead and will not be able to break your record. But congrats, good to know the cars engine and transmission can handle the mileage.

And yes, the 1G RDX has proven to be very reliable, outside of it's small issues such as A/C issues, window actuators and stuff like that...

That's awesome! My wife's 2010 is around 130K and runs like a champ. We're planning to keep it over 200K also.

Wow, you are killing us with all this driving. Watch more TV or something. It is now a quest to see how far you can go without a transmission or major engine failure. Keep the updates and good luck. I drove mine today. Will get all of 18 miles on it roundtrip to work. Just do not drive that much it seems.

I knew I needed to get it there before this evening, because I will not have it with me on the weekends and will be driving the Optima... (At Kia dealer right now having either the valve cover gasket or oil pan gasket replaced, they keep flip-flopping between which one it is, fire hazard and have been loosing oil like crazy)

Either way, I drove all over Louisiana yesterday to achieve this mileage...

I went down to Houma, Dulac, Grand Caillou, Thibodaux, then back towards the westbank and through where I grew up (first time being in New Orleans in over 2 1/2 years)

I did it! All 450 miles!

Your my hero Midnight Mystery! Every mile you put on means I can go that much further in my 08 RDX with +161,000. I just did the brake fluid flush, cabin/air filter, new tires, and repaired a hairline crack in the radiator causing antifreeze leak. Still much cheaper than a car payment per year. A lot of the issues fall in the category of "one and done" I've been having in the last 5 years like hairline crack in radiator, coil pack, alternator, or leaky power steering pump.

Planning to keep 08 RDX until 3rd Gen RDX hits the +2022 MMC years. Want to see if a Type-S RDX is available or get a used 2019-2021 3rd Gen RDX Adv I could make into a Type-S with a tune.

Thanks!

I just feel like no other CUV's can offer all of what the 1G RDX can offer...

Looking forward to 275K!

There is another member here at 260K on his 2009! I wonder where his mileage is now?

Iíve been hearing a lot about power steering pumps, coil packs, alternators and radiator problems.

Iíve only done Window, Mirror, & Door actuators. Brake pressure switches & fuses. Windshield washer fluid tank. Leaking power steering rack. Seat belt buckles Replaced. A/C system replaced. Navigation unit rebuilt. Catalytic converter heat shields replaced. Air bags recalled. Speakers replaced. Heated seat replaced.

Other than that regular matinence like brakes, rotors, brake lines, engine oil, engine oil filter, transmission fluid flushes, rear differential fluid flushes, power steering fluid flushes, batteries, windshield washer fluid, transfer case fluid flush, coolant fluid flushed, new tires, tires rotated, and spark plugs.

Passenger heated seat is rather weak... My steering whines a lot but it's been doing that since I got it three years ago and otherwise has caused no other issues. I also have an occasional lean A/F ratio bit we're unable to pinpoint easily and the spark plug change has really helped a lot!

My service due came on last night, A123...

It appears to be Oil Change, Tire Rotation, Cabin Aur Filter, Engine Air Filter and Transmission Fluid.
.
I did the transmission fluid at 178K, so I KNOW it is due again. My tires have recently been rotated and my filters are still good, or either new, the dealer can tell me, but they usually tell me they're still good.

When I do the tranny, I want to do the tranny filter too.

Wow! That's a lot of miles. Do you think a valve adjustment is necessary? My other car is a 2007 Civic SI w/ a K Series. I think it's recommended every 110k. Forgot where I read that.

It really depends, but it couldn't hurt!

I had my valve cover gasket replaced a few months ago... I had the dealer adjust the valves while in there but they said they were still within spec...

Either way, while the valve cover is off, go ahead and replace the gasket too, for preventative maintenance!

It kinda started working again.

I'm worried it's the clutch again. I replaced it a year ago. If so, I'm worried the compressor is getting tight and burning out good clutches prematurely.

Okay, just to be clear when I called your car a turd in the other thread, it was the Kia and/or Camry I was talking about.
This RDX is actually pretty fucking cool and I love that you're keeping up on it with that kinda mileage. I actually felt like
the car had balls and they went backward with every iteration since they dumped the turbo version (pardon me but assuming
yours is that one). I also think it looks like a Raven or a mean looking bird that isn't like other goofy and cute CUV out there.
Nice choice...
why not dump the other piece of shit and just throw whatever money you get at some more maintenance on this baby?

LOL!

I never even saw the turd comment! But thanks, and I completely aggree with you!

However, I need two vehicles because the RDX and Optima live in two different states. I use the Optima on weekends and the RDX on some weekdays, like today.

The RDX goes back for her to bring to work and I just keep the Optima with me.

Don't get me wrong... The Optima is such a nice car, but dammit, I just can't enjoy it.
