After 1 year 4 months and 24 days, I went from 175,018 to 200,000 miles!!! I know it's not much, but it's what I've done!!!

I was almost infront of the Meridian, MS airport heading eastbound on I-20/59 just east of the merge... That's what I love about road trips, it runs my mileage way up, and just a wonderful way to celebrate... Now, on to 225,000 then 250,000!

kurtatx 07-20-2017 02:59 PM

Nice job!

Very exclusive club!

You give me a lot of hope for my RDX at only 140,000 miles. Keep us posted as the mile pile up.

Tomtwtwtw 07-20-2017 04:13 PM

See you in a few years...100k last September, 123k today, with a 4k road trip in 6 weeks. Next year will be my major maintenance - shocks, struts, end links, bushings (if needed), front axles (car has always had a slight wobble on acceleration), serpent belt, usual fluids, and if needed a valve adjustment. Hopefully that'll get me to 300.

Midnight Mystery 07-20-2017 05:33 PM

Thank you...

My suspension is shot... Had end links, tie rods, and rear torque rods done... Steering feels a little more "darty", but it didn't do much... I have a clicking in the front passenger side, I thumping when parking, shakes above 65 mph, steering has gotten very light feeling, a little lose, (it feels better than it did I guess), I know the rack and pump are leaking, as many early '07s do...

Also, I had an alignment done, now it pulls to the right, it was fine before...

Having it checked tomorrow...

Drivers door master switch has a short, causing all kinds of problems... New switch going in next week... Ordered it last week, but dealer ordered wrong part...

Im having a really good Honda dealer fix the suspension... This thing lived in uptown New Orleans for 175k miles... That city will work on a suspension...

We're slowly fixing her up...

On the bright side, the engine runs like new, still strong and smooth as ever, and were hard on it!!!

I know it's just "my" RDX having problems!!! But I still love it to death and beyond!!!

Thanks! I really want a picture of 222,222, that'll be my next big goal...

I've already put more miles on the TL than I did on the Camry, had the Camry over three months, and the TL six weeks and a day... Needless to say, these day trips are paying off..

I'm waiting at the Honda dealer now, hope they just drive it... My service adviser must be out to lunch, the other guy took it in...

Midnight Mystery 07-21-2017 01:51 PM

I need new front struts... He said NAPA struts are just as good as OEM... It'll be $680 ish, vs. $900+.... That is also what is causing the rubbing sound and pull to the right... Makes more sense to me... Hopefully that's it, struts go bad, not a big deal!!!

TheWrench116 07-23-2017 06:40 PM

if you have clicking then its probably an axle...

schen72 07-27-2017 01:38 PM

Man, the RDX's MID display really is low-resolution!

I thought the same thing until I realized I needed to wear glasses in low light when looking at small print for the first time in my life. :toocool:

Indeed. Same case for me. I find reading fine print difficult even in bright light. I just can't seem to focus the tiny words no matter how hard I try. I need my reading glasses for that.

Thanks, but the parts are in, having them done Friday afternoon at the Honda dealer that I trust....

I hope hope it's not an axle, neither the Acura $tealer or Honda dealer even seemed to consider an ax

heykosal 08-05-2017 09:38 PM

Congrats! I just surpassed the 200k mark in mine a few weeks ago. I meant to take a photo to mark the milestone but I neglected to =( I too have had a whole load of issues over the years, mechanical and electrical.

hues10 08-08-2017 08:21 AM

When you say a whole load of issues, were they wear items like shocks & struts and brakes and stuff, or items you wouldn't expect to break, like turbo replace, transmission replace, etc? At 200K miles, the car has been driven and is like an old person needing a knee replacement. Don't need to euthanize the person, just replace some worn down parts. However, not all older people/cars need new body parts if you get my drift.

stray_pube 08-08-2017 09:37 PM

I'm at 192k now. Only issues have been with the A/C, and my Nav unit doesn't work 100% and needs a refurb. Probably could go another 100k the way I drive it, but my wife is going to be getting it now because I am taking delivery of a 2018 Subaru Outback 3.6R Touring this weekend. I told her the RDX is probably going to go down as the best car I've ever owned, but I do a lot of travelling out of state and don't want to deal with potentially getting stranded. Everyone tells me to drive it until the wheels fall off, which is fine, but I just don't want the wheels to fall off when I am a few hundred miles from my house. I already know I'm going to miss the ELS sound system, and probably the hydraulic steering and SH-AWD too. Alas, it's time to move on.

I know how busy goes... Haha... I'll reply back Tuesday night, in 11 days when I have Internet again...

Heres the TL, hit a little milestone today!!!

I got it 6/8/17 with 102,929....

Still haven't put the lip spoiler on yet, it came in 9 days ago, I thought it was too long but after checking it's just right!!! I need to figure out how far back to put it because it isn't curved down to wrap over the edge of the deck lid, I'll just go as far as I can without it looking stupid!!!

I've had to replace the alternator, AC compressor/condenser, radiator, driver's side rear caliper seized, etc. I can't remember everything without looking at my records.

OhRDX 10-08-2017 08:39 AM

I'm pushing 179k.
  • Both front seat leathers are ripped/trashed
  • Front fog light glass is broken out
  • LF brake is grinding
  • Intermitten CEL for every code in the book
  • A/C compressor (replaced year ago) is leaking
  • Driver window takes 3 tries to stay up
  • Suspension is getting tired
  • LR camber bolt is frozen and alignment off
  • Rear diff leaking
  • Think knock sensor going
  • Trans feels like its getting tired despite tons of maintenance
Still less to fix than the average week with my Jag.

BTW, anyone done a valve job on this? Wondering if I should break into it and check it out.....

Midnight Mystery 10-08-2017 11:36 AM

I hit 205K last night!!! Forgot at take a picture...

Man, I drove one with 160K-ish on it and it felt like new other than having the center armrest mashed flat from an elbow...

Even at 175K, when I got mine, it drove fine... It's just now, after an almost new suspension, still feels like driving an old truck...

I just don't get it, I've driven many high milage vehicles before, they never had a "wore out" feeling to them... They always, always, felt almost like new still... Or like nothing was out of whack...

schen72 10-08-2017 08:53 PM

I only just passed 70,000 miles yesterday on my RDX. It's a 2008, bought brand new in 2007. Everything is perfect on it, except one fog light has a crack in the glass lens. 100% ding and dent free!

hues10 10-09-2017 09:00 AM

My 2011 is within 100 miles of 50k. Just getting broken in I hope. Have put 15k miles on her since purchase in March '14. Still seems new when I drive it. I have spend more time washing it than driving it it seems. That's ok though. Sounds like it can run to 175k which may take me to my grave......

saxqtzk 10-10-2017 07:25 PM

Those of you with over 100k, did the stock turbo have to be replaced? My 2011 has 113k and that is one of my biggest fears with this car.

BTW, congrats OP on the mileage.

Midnight Mystery 10-10-2017 07:37 PM

No, mines original... I haven't heard of hardly any RDX's having turbo failures... Not to say that it can't happen, but I think everything else will break before the turbo...

Kaputnik 10-10-2017 09:54 PM

Congrats on the 200K. I too like to hear about the RDX as a tough survivor.

I just turned 59k

Thanks! Well, actually I'm at about 205,830... Took a trip from southwest Mississippi, through Shreveport, LA, to the DFW metroplex... I should go another 400 by the end of the week... I have a service due soon B14... Seems like an inspection... I have a new front suspension just about... Only thing I haven't done is spark plugs...

My Honda service advisor will likely rule out unnecessary maintenance...

By the way, I've put nearly 31K miles since 2/26/16, you get the idea...

Man, your RDX has low miles!!! Nice!!!

BTW, congrats OP on the mileage.

I have +143,000 on my 08 RDX with zero issues with the turbo, AT, or sh-awd system. The last two major fixes were an alternator and front brake pads. I stick to the M.I.D. maint schedule and usually run 91 octane from Sam's or Costco. I even have hondata reflash+ETS intercooler with zero issues with the powertrain.

I split my mileage between my 06 TSX (+139,000), 08 RDX (+143,000), and 11 MDX (+102,000) for +384,000 combined miles. I want to get +500,000 miles between all three before trading one of them out.

Wow nice milestone!

This thread gives me hope too! I'm picking up a 07 RDX Tech today with 186k kilometers. So that's about 116k in miles.

Midnight Mystery 11-10-2017 01:05 PM

Currently at 208,837!!!

schen72 11-12-2017 08:35 PM

I just hit 70k miles on my 08. Everything still running like new. Maintenance is per the MID. Exterior still looking like new as it gets frequent car washes.

hues10 11-13-2017 09:04 AM

A little embarrassed to say 50k on my '11. But 70k on an 08 is not much better:thumbsup: Mine runs like a charm (knock on wood). Just did the annual oil change (plus two months) this past weekend. Really is a breeze to change the oil since everything is right there and in front. My GF has a 2010 CRV, and the oil drain bolt faces rearward, so when you are taking the bolt out from the front, it is almost impossible not to get oil on you hands, or better yet drop the bolt in the oil. The RDX oil drain plug faces the driver's side front wheel, so taking it out is much easier to get out of the way. The little things I notice. This little thing can move when it wants to. I am thinking of the Volvo XC40 or XC60 Hybrid in about three years, which supposedly goes 0-60 in 4.9 seconds. Can't imagine how much quicker that would feel if needed.

Midnight Mystery 11-21-2017 08:51 PM

Almost at 209K... If I accelerate hard I hear a couple of really loud clunks... Say, I'm going 10 mph, and give it a lot of gas, there are a couple of really loud clunks... Front passenger side area...

I I drove in tight circles at low speeds in a parking lot, no clicking, so I can rule out the axels, bud I don't know what's wrong...

I do do have a couple of suspension clicks, over bumps still, but they are very faint and I belive those are completely unrelated to this problem...

Im going to try to replicate the sound later, see what I can think it might be...

I do know it's audible from like 100+ yards away outside...

Midnight Mystery 11-22-2017 11:32 AM

I was really scared last night.. It would jerk and hesitate if I gave more than 1/4 throttle...

Also, heard the clunk coming from engine bay area , also, noticed a burning smell outside after I parked it... Not like it's on fire smell, but, like I floored it a bunch of times and it's still hot after... (Roasted smell)...

I took off like normal and it hesitated... I was freaked out, shaking and everything, felt like my world was gonna end... This car lives in New Orleasns, then, has to travel two hours north every other week, then go to either Jackson or Hattiesburg during those weeks... I have the TL, but barely put miles on it... It stays here with me while I'm alone in MS... I have to have this car roadworthy....

Anyway, gave it the benefit of the doubt today, drove it easy, but hit it a little like I do... Boost seems to build like normal, seems like a little torque went AWOL... It didn't seem to have that punch from 3-4K rpm that I use to merge or get on a highway... It did hesitate a little once, but not much...

I I know if I floor it it will go bang, bang, bang... I haven't even tried that yet, too scared...

The clicking in front right has gotten much worse since last night.... Almost like it was at 200k when the strut went bad, which was replaced in August...

So far these have been replaced...

Midnight Mystery 11-22-2017 11:42 AM

Sorry, so far, replaced these parts...

Front struts
Tie Rods
Sway Ends
Tie End Links (either upper and lower-or inner and outer) can't remember which one...

Not as worried about this...^ Maybe part dealer installed was defective or something...

As for the turbo, which I can't prove it is, I'm
thinking maybe the dual flaps that regulate the amount of air that is introduced to into the turbocharger may be sticking in one or another position... The clunking feels similar to turbo lag or bogging down of the turbo...

I just feel like maybe the flaps are somehow malfunctioning, thus chocking the turbo...

Please se help me if y'all can, I know I didn't start a new thread about it, so I won't see much in terms of views... Thanks for anything...
