Keep it going!

I'm up to 150,000 miles and just replaced my interstate battery and my four coil packs. Planning to keep for at-least 2-3 more years while I wait for the 2020/2021 RDX or if I can find an used +18 sh-sh-awd Adv in the right color combo.

Thanks!!!

The bad news is that the A/C stopped working yesterday, and I'm dyin'...

The good news is that the Honda dealer will take us on walk-in tomorrow, thank god, we were collaborating, the service advisor and I, and we think it's a relay... It was cold, then went hot, then, while driving, it went from hot, to ice cold... Fine for three or four hours, then did it again, then worked, then didn't work, but I couldn't tell as it was dark by then so it wasn't as hot outside, but it pretty much didn't work today... In August we had the condenser replaced, so I hope it's not that, but I feel the compressor kinking on, we'll see...

New tie rods and struts make the steering feel awesome again!!!

Having the Optima's CEL tested, well see, at AutoZone now...

My 06 TSX A/C did the exactly the same thing cycling between cold, cool, or warm depending on your speed and the driver side was a little warmer compared to the passenger. I thought it was the condenser fans not turning fast enough at lower speeds. Acura said it was the old O-rings leaking and low pressure in the A/C system. They replaced the O-rings and recharged the system for about $290. Working after a week since the repair (+95 degree the norm in ABQ).

It's a clutch and coil on the A/C, he messed with it and got it working, but it's gonna die again, no big deal, water pump is making a lot of knocking now, but it isn't leaking that I know, so we'll see... Bringing it in 10 days, will be $908 plus tax, damn...

im sure with the mileage the clunk you are hearing is due to worn out lower control arms and motor mounts

I had the bottom mount replaced recently, and the tie rods, end links, struts, mainly the suspension is new... The tech at the dealer swears it's the water pump, but thanks for the suggestion, we'll see!!!

Replacing the O-rings didn't fix my A/C issue on the TSX. It still acting the same way after 2 weeks with intermittent warm/cool/cold. Took it back and Acura said it was a bad compressor operating at 4X the pressure for some reason forcing Freon past the O-rings. They wanted $1300 for aftermarket and $2400 for Acura parts and this was minus the $290 I paid earlier a few weeks ago. Looked on eBay and purchased an A/C compressor with clutch for $130 and will try my luck with a local shop.

Sounds good, I'm curious how local or small guys do on these Acuras...

Whew... Glad the RDX had a new compressor put in when it was a year old...

Really though, I hope this works for you, I'm curious myself!!!

225,604!!!

One year ago today, I hit 200,000 miles on a trip in Meridian, MS, a few hours after the passing of Chester Binnington... I will never forget that day...

Either way, I've been 25,604 miles since then, it will still be driven another 135-140 miles tonight, but it's been long and far!!!

This is the most I have ever driven in my life, and out of anyone I know personally other than my brother driving like 40-50k a year in a company truck for work a few years ago...

25k miles a year is a lot of work, glad to get to do it again over the coming year!!!

Only thing, gas is eating me up, haha!!!

225,740 by the end of tonight... Not to mention I drove almost 100 miles that morning a year ago before the big moment!!!

I should have have timed it out, exactly 365/0h0m... But it didn't work out that way, but I still went 25.7K it 12 months!!!

I really cant belive it...

We bought it 2 years 4 months 24 days ago!!! It had 175,018!!!

I was hoping to see 250K in 4-4.5 years in, but it may be a little over 3!!!

I want to prove turbos are just as reliable as N/A and the RDX is a champion there, very proud of her!!!

Thanks, MM!!!

No need to prove that Honda makes reliable engine, turbo or not. What usually makes me sell the car at the end is that everything else starts to fail.
As the car gets older, you pretty much can expect anything to go: alternator, starter, radiator, ac, shocks, calipers, power steering and etc.
you need to do cost analysis and see if it’s worth your time and money to keep it going, the engine and trans will keep going for a long time, but you will have others things go....
I am at 170k with 2008, and thinking of maybe keeping it for another year max

My previous '99 TL lasted 270k miles. The only thing wrong with it really was the transmission which are getting really rough and engaging reverse when cold would produce a very bad sounding noise. This was the 4-speed and was original when I bought the car brand new. It was maintained at the dealer. The driver's seat edge (vinyl portion) was peeling, center console "leather" was all faded and messed up, and the car was just kinda tired. I figured I got my money's worth out of that car. Sold it for $450. Paid exactly $30,405 (including tax) 18 years ago.

Items that required repair or replacement outside of normal maintenance:
  • air mixer behind dash (was only blowing cold air)
  • 2 coilpacks (was causing rough vibrations and misfires)
  • starter (died one day and couldn't start car)
  • driver's side window regulator (window wouldn't roll back up)
  • replaced catalytic converter (was able to delay this fix for a few years by manually clearing CEL)
Issues the car still had when I got rid of it:
  • driver's heated seat inoperative
  • driver's door lock switch chrome rubbing off
  • HID bulbs very dim (basically worn out from use - never replaced, just tilted headlights lower and used high beams to drive at night)
  • transmission getting rough (this was the final nail as I could tell it was not going to last long - shifting into reverse made an especially loud metallic clunk)
I don't remember the cost of all these fixes but they were all done either at the dealer or an independent shop specializing in Honda/Acura. I gave the buyer a 2 inch thick manilla folder with every single service done on the car, since it was brand new.

Transmission noise was quite possibly just worn engine mounts, allowing the engine to essentially tilt and drop a bit when reverse engaged. All together not a terrible list of issues for nearly 300k miles of use.

Oh, I forgot to add engine mounts. Had two of them replaced over the years. The transmission noise I mentioned was definitely not engine mounts. Dealer inspected it carefully to determine that.

Wow! Didn't realize that until now! My goal was originally 250K, which I'm almost too. I plan to keep it forever!

Yeah... But I'm very proud of my baby! ❤

Purchased on 2/26/2016 with 175,018... So, I've done quite a bit of driving... More and more as of late... I was at 238K in early January, lol!

I know of one RDX that is a 2009 with 260K miles...

I love the fact that they are holding up so well after 12 years and 200K+ miles and I see this on a regular basis now...

I've had a few issues, but only a major oil leak in the past year, or so... Only thing is the window/lock actuators are crap...

Last week, my passenger window would cut in and out, and the switch would flicker on and off as I hit bumps... Also, the drivers door lock button quit working for a while... Nothing major, but definitely a pita... Also, the locks start clicking on their own sonetimes...

I’m just teasing you, that’s great keep me updated with the year, mileage, and problems.

You probably need new window and door acualtors if you hear it when it’s moving as well as switches if they are flickering.

Had the drivers switch replaced but it went out agaij a week later... (I think the glass shop didn't disconnect the battery after reinstalling the doir panel after installing window clips the Acura dealership forgot to install) Also, the passenger side flickers, and the rear drivers window would occasionally go down, and not come back up...
