State of the Union- NSX Market
I have only been following the NSX market for about 2 years, but I have never seen this many NSX's going for sale! It's ridiculous and I expect the numbers to increase as winter approaches. It seems like a an NSX is going for sale on a daily basis! If you are looking for an NSX, now is a great time to pick one up. It's a great buyer's market right now. On the other side of the spectrum, there are quite a few NSX owners who want to sell their car, but don't need too. This is evident for some of these cars not selling for 6+ months, and the owners not budging in price. Just noticed on Prime a local NSX that has been on the market for 14 months, and the owner finally selling! He got 45k for a white 98 (we all know how much white is coveted)! However, I am seeing desperate owners willing to make some deals if the right buyer came along. I almost picked up a yellow, but the owner wasn't willing to work on the price with me.... months later, he's asking what I offered him early in the summer (and probably kicking himself now). I am also seeing the newer NSX's impacted more then the older ones. 2002+ are coming down significantly, but I do expect prices to stabilize at some point, similarly to the older models.

Truth.
I wish i would have waited a bit but still pretty damn happy with the car i ended up with. At least i was able to enjoy my summer with the beauty.
With the market the way it is, i cant afford to mod it though.

I'm hoping to pick one up in a year or two (around the time i graduate from University), hopefully the prices stay low till then, would be cool to end up with an 02 Imola Pearl, but i'm thinking i might get an older one first, then go to a..less older one?

I really like the NSX, but I'm torn between it and the Supra Turbo. Both great cars, but I have to decide if I want balls to wall power or a nice cruiser.

Synth, was that the one in Naperville? the white with type-R parts, 27000miles...that one was so nice. he wanted 51000 in general. 50000 for prime members, and sold for 45?

Perhaps I should get a 1991 for $27k CAD and then move my way up?

that's what i would do..find a 91 nsx with the lowest mileage that you can find and convert it the way you want it. i've seen many 91-01 models with the wings west kit slam with some big wheels.. damn it looks great. i've never seen anyone modded their's to nsx-r in person before though.

I have collected classic cars in the past and there always is an execess on the market when the economy is poor. A shortage of inventory when times are good.
This is a sign of poor economic times and is showing that the NSX is becoming a true classic. In Two years it will be 20 years old.
When times are good again, many of the cars sold now will be wrecked or off the road due to poor ownership. Numbers will be down and people with money will want them, just because they can buy them. I have seen this cycle a couple of times with classic mustangs.
Yes, these are the best of times for a collector. Inventory is up as well as prices are down.
I really look at it as a time to find that special car that you have dreamed about. Prefered color, year and low mileage are easier to find now.
This applies to all classic or low production cars, not just the NSX.
I paid premium for a '91. But, it is 100% original. All receipts came with the car. All maintenance done at the dealership. 31,000 miles, and not a mark on the car.
It was like buying a new car that just happened to be 17 years old. One previous owner.
It was worth a bit more, so I still don't mind paying more than for most other cars. I have seen 2004s in much, much poorer shape than this 1991.

I use LemonFree.com to search all listings in North America and setup alerts to email me when ever a new NSX hits the market.

I have a friend with a 91, he did the 02 front end conversion, the nsxr wing and badging on the wing and doors, white and black two tone, red recaros, full JIC Suspension, Basch Supercharger....5 speed with the sequential shifter...its pretty nice heres a few pics of it..

I feel the need...
Lots of "sick" deals which aren't selling. I've noticed a ton of cars showing up repeatedly with lower buy it now prices and lower reserves with auctions ending up in no sale, many with zero bids!!!
This economy is going to shake out a ton of juicy deals when sellers capitulate. Just my observations and

yeah, the crisis has an impact on everything, nothing is safe from it. On the other hand, for those who can afford, this is the moment to come crashing down on deals and own something that you wanted.

There is a white on white, arguably one of the RAREST combinations going for 50k right now on Prime. Only 46k miles. Someone pick this up!
