NSX supercar vs. NSX production lower cost car
The new NSX is a high performance 550 HP super car that will cost about $150k.
I wonder if Acura should look into a roadster version that more people can afford.
Chevy does this with the Camaro and Corvette.
The Camaro starts in the $20's k and goes up to the $70+k for the z28.
The Corvette starts in the $50's k and goes up to close to $100k
Maybe Acura should create a roadster and convertible version using the Engine that is used for the RLX / TLX. Since Acura does not offer a coupe this can be that car. This can be a vehicle starting around $45k and going up to around $65-75k fully loaded. They would need to tone down the trim styling a bit to differentiate it from the more expensive version. There is a car buying segment that wants a coupe / fun car. Some want it as their primary vehicle while others like it as a weekend / 2ndary vehicle.
It could compete in this segment with the:
Audi TT
3 Series convertible
C Class Coupe / E Class convertible
IS 350 convertible or RC Coupe

So you are asking for a modern day CL/Legend coupe type of car?

Time will tell. There's rumours of the s2000 making a comeback for Honda, which we all know there is not an Acura variant of. Maybe this time there might be.

not trying to start issues. Was just thinking that the NSX is a very very nice car but at a very elite level. Acura has a void in the coupe / roadster segment. Was thinking an NSX variant may work. For all we know this variant can be the S2000 from Honda or a reincarnation of the RSX.

No. If Porsshe built a 911 Carrera with 150HP for $ 45,000 will outsell the Camry.
This NSX with 140HP for $ 35,000 will outsell even the Accord.
I will take a Lambo Aventador 110HP for $ 20,000.

talking about what if's there is a poster on the RDX board who is suggesting Acura jump into the compact SUV area to compete with the Audi Q3 and Mercedes GLA.
Acura likes to keep it simple with few vehicle offerings. With the vehicles they offer they have limited variants. Having 2 engines and 3 trim levels is a big deal for Acura while the Germans may have 2-3 gas engines, a Diesel variant, maybe a hybrid, 2-3 trims, a sport version (ie. M / AMG), and maybe a coupe variant for each vehicle. Plus the Germans seem to have a long lineup of vehicles 2-3 times the size of Acura.

If Acura was going to do anything else with the set up (MR) from the NSX I'd like to see a Cayman competitor.
The Cayman is a mid engine sports car and starts at $52K with a 275 hp NA flat six that revs to 7800 rpm and weighs 2900 lbs.
We don't know the specs of the 75 degree engine in the NSX just yet...but the Honda Indycar engine is a 2.2L 75 degree V6 that revs to 12,000. I'm guessing the NSX engine is bigger than 2.2L - probably 3.0-3.8L but I'm guessing the engines are somewhat related...especially given the relatively short development time of the NSX. The press release photos show a 7500 redline but the rumor is that that isn't necessarily true.
The NSX is 4 inches longer than the Cayman and has quite a bit more wheelbase and is a bit wider but it's fairly close.
Take out the Hybrid system and lose 350 lbs, take out the Turbo system, maybe make it a bit shorter and narrower...put a version of the 75 degree V6 that revs to 8000, use basically the same suspension as the NSX...Cayman competitor.
Also remember that Acura is being quite specific with the NSX competitors: 458, R8 V10+, 911 Turbo.
They could be just as specific here and say: Cayman S, F-type S...

Honda has been tossing out ideas of a S2K replacer and even been debating an AWD sports coupe under the Acura line up, but nothing official. All that was said was that by 2017 they would like to have SH-AWD standard in their vehicles.
