Is the v6 accord auto trans compatible in 99CL 3.0?
I have a 99 cl 3.0 automatic transmission that needs to be replaced. I found a good deal on a trans but it is off of a 3.0 v6 accord auto. Is the transmission compatible as far as the mounting and wiring harness goes, are all the solenoids, pressure sensors vss the same?. How about 97 and 98 Cl trans, will it work in my 99 ? Thanks for the help.

only a 98 or 99 tranny will work in your 99. And as far as the accord tranny's go, if i remember correctly, they have different bell housings which will not work.
Oh and the 97 CL tranny will also NOT work because of more sensors and it just being a different tranny all together with the same internals
I had the same exact problem 2 years ago.

The Accord transmissions are different. The bellhousing will bolt up, but the left side cover has the ATGPS (auto trans gear position switch) mounted to the left side cover, and from what I have been told, it will not physically fit between the frame rails.
As far as I know you have three options:
1. Buy a reman: Acura Warranty Trans
2. Pay someone to rebuild it, just get a good warranty.
3. Rebuild it yourself: My Thread With Pics

thanks for the quick response to all.
Jim that warranty trans is under $1150, is that a complete trans with tc minus sensors/switches/solenoids? I was under the impression that a reman. trans would run me close to $2000

When shopping around, you need to refer to your transmission part number, which should be B7ZA for your '99. Phoenix lists a M7ZA on the website which is a '97 model, and not compatible with your car. They may offer a B7ZA as well. There is a sticker on the transmission near the starter that will have the part number on it.

the accord trans just bigger (wider) than the cl trans it will bolt up but wont fit in the frame... the cl trans will work in the accord, giving it is a 98/99 cl trans. the 97 trans was the first in the series to be put to a j30 block (kind of a one off) since the accord didnt get a j series engine till 98.. good luck pimp.

OK I know its an old thread but trying to figure this out I have a 98 accord here with the B7XA in it. Will the B7ZA bolt up and work? I have a B7ZA available this is why I'm asking. Thanks ahead

just for clarrification:
does this mean the B7XA is not a direct replacement for the B7ZA?
This says that the B7ZA will not work in the Accord, but im confused if the B7XA will fit in the cl?

b7za b7xa are not the same
Just brought a b7za from a wrecked 99 cl with 85k, thinking it would work in my 98 honda 3.0l. They do look the same but are different. If anyone needs the b7za, i have one ready to go. Would like to trade for b7xa or sell out right.

What's different, the mounts and sensor locations?
#23
the mounts are ok, both trannies have the same holes for either type mounts. sorry no homo. The b7xa has a pole that sticks out to turn the neutral safety/position sensor, while the b7za has no pole sticking out, but it does have the place to mount the position sensor. Internally there may be a place to add the pole but i have not been inside to see.

Long shot, but do you still have the B7ZA? I doubt it, but am interested if you do! Thanks!!
