Strange Noise

Just found this site about a week ago, very cool. Have a question for all you first gen CL owners. I have had my 3.0CL about 1 year now and I just started noticing a (tapping or flapping) sound coming from the engine. I am no mechanic so i have already scheduled an appointment to bring it in this weekend. Hoping someone here may have had a similar experience and can shed some light on my situation. The car has 61000 miles and the engine sounds great most of the time. When first started in the morning engine is quiet for however long i'm driving for, however when i turn engine off for whatever reason and restart shortly thereafter, once the engine is warm, this noise begins. Its sounds like putting a baseball card into the spokes of your bicycle. At idle you cant hear it but as rpm's increase sound gets louder and faster. Thanx for any feedback...

There is a thread about this somewhere and lots of people had the problem. I had the same problem. First they said the valves needed to be adjusted so they did that and than it stopped for a little. Than it started again and they said it was the drive belts so they replaced them and its been good ever since.

Thanks for the feedback, i figured it probably had something to do with the valves because it was only happening when the engine was hot. Anyhow get this, when i called the first acura dealer Flatbush, Brooklyn they swore to me that the valves on a 97 3.0CL are not adjustable and told me that the there must be a misprint in my maintenance manual. So i called a few more places and now i'm actually saving over 200 beans on my 60,000 mile maint. job. First of all, i'm appauled by the lack of knowledge this dealorship displayed and it's unbelievable how different dealerships charge such different rates. $10.00-$20.00 whatever, but over 200.00.
I think that is worth the extra half hour drive out of town.
