will a honda speed sensor fit my 97 cl 3.0 automatic?? acura wants $135 for one. i think thats a tad too much

i'm a little suspicious of the price, but try it out, for 12 bucks you're not losing much...the shipping is mad expensive though

97 accord's didnt have the same engine as the 3.0
youre better off searching for a 98 v6 accord part

I bought one of these to use in my 2.5TL, and it was not the same part, however I swapped the functional parts from new sensor to old frame, and it works fine. The sensor frames are different to mount on various engine platforms (and prevent parts swapping!), but the "guts" are all the same. There's only a small rotor and coil to swap. Two screws to remove and reinstall. For 10 mins of time you can save $100+.

i understand, but i dont. please elaborate. i have an idea of what your saying, but not sure and i dont want to ruin it.

also, i am unable to find one for the honda v-6 anywhere... any help here? ebay or something is cool or anything cheap. heh. although, i DO want it to work

It's straightforward. Remove three screws and transfer rotor, shim, some grease, and electrical part from new donor VSS to the metal frame of the old VSS. Install three screws and you're done. I used a bit of RTV sealant to seal the top as there was some type of sealant on the original and replacement parts.

The top part in the ebay photo get's transferred to your old lower body frame.

oh ok, i think i got it. the three screws come out, reuse the pin thats in there, pop on the new one. basically use everything up to the 2 screws and switch the pin?

think i got it now.

They looked similar but I reused the loose drive link that links VSS to the transmission flywheel.

i ordered a new gear the drops into the tranny and when that gets here on tuesday i am going to pop that back in and reconnect everything.

your saying all this based on the VSS on ebay that i linked or do you suggest another? i am going to order this one if it will work. but let me know if you can find another you think will be better. i am not sure if this is for a 4 cylinder or 6. again, PLEASE look to see if you can find a better one that will suit my needs. thanks!!!


also, what exactly does an 0/2 sensor do? should i change at 137k ? will it help my gas or anything else? within a month or so, i will be installing an ebay intake just to get a bit more out of the motor. i HATE stock intakes

That' s the same VSS and vendor I used. BTW it comes w/ a link drive.

Have you checked wheter your Acura is included in the emission recall which provides a free tuneup (wires, plugs, O2 sensor, air filter I think). Of these plugs are the most cost-effective. O2 sensor is durable, but a new sensor may help. There are some good deals for these on ebay also, if you're willing to wire them to your old harness.
