Yeah, so anyway, I was debadgeing and it came out like crap. I did all the tips people mentioned on other threads I searched for but none work. So heres what I did:
1.) Heat up with heat gun for a little over 30 seconds.
2.) Took off emblem with floss.
3.) Scraped off with a thin, hard credit card as much adhesive as I could.
4.) This time I sprayed on goo gone and scraped and some of the adhesive came off but the crap on the outline stayed as well as gray crap (can't feel it) around the letters. Is this gray crap called ghosting?
5.) Reheated, sprayed on some more goo gone many times, and scraped the heck out of it. Took out all the adhesive and helped the outline a bit but still ghosting like a bitch. (for lack of a better word)
6.) Washed with car wash. That cleaned off some of the ghosting gray crap.
7.) Buffed it with wax like, 4 times. It only smoothed over and looked a little better after the first 2 times.

The pics is what I have after all that. The problem is with the outline and gray crap around that outline that I think can be removed. No paint fade thank god!







What do I do?? Wetsand? As much as I love the 3.0, I really want to take off those emblems and leave the (A) in the middle. Please help!

try clay bar, it works wonders and from the looks of the picture it that outline of the acura should come off.

BTW, those scratches on the bumber above the lisence plate was from the garage door. Dad didn't pull it up all the way and the garage door scraped against the bumper on the way down.

Maybe I should get Cocoa to help me with this before he moves from the lone star state! lol, now if only I had a lisence and gas money to drive down to Southlake.

use a rubbing compound. meguairs plastx. i use it on everything and it works wonders. be sure to wax again,

Hmm, didn't think rubbing compound. We got some of that. Forgot to mention I tried plastx just before the wax and it just did basically what the wax did, smooth it out. I'll try that rubbing compound first thing tomorrow and pick up on a clay bar. Thanks again for the quick responses! Keep more ideas coming if anyones got any.

your safer with the clay bar, you'll swirl the paint if your not careful, that should come out with wax and clay bar

clay bar will also lift some imperfections on paint... try rubbing your fingers on problem areas like your bumper or areas you feel a grainy texture and clay bar it and you'll notice it'll be smooth afterwards.

its UP to Southlake BTW...... and Ive got the same problem with mine its OK for the ACURA piece but the 2.2CL part came out worse , and wait, no License????? did I miss something here?

rubbing alchohol and then goo gone, but don't leave it on more than 30 secs or so it'll eat clear coat. I washed with simple green after that, then washed it normally and buffed it and all the ghosting went away

I had those exact same marks in the same places on my car's bumper. I was wondering what those were from! Ironically my car was also the same color as yours. And it also had the ghost acura marks when I debadged until I wetsanded it...then they went away.

I got the exact same result Except I think mine had actual pitting in the clearcoat where water dried/decayed around the edges of the emblem over time. Appears from the pics you have a bit of it too. Could be wrong though, I haven't tried a claybar but my gut instinct tells me I'll need a respray

Looks like you'll need to repaint the whole car to get that out.

Advice from a former car detailer: use a little acetone, it will break down the compounds in the remaining adhesive. Then wash and wax the area again.

hey i was wondering will a clay bar or that mother product will that take scratches out of my hood and bumper or no how deep can the scratches be

essentially it is lifting imperfections (e.g. grainy texture) off the clear on the car given it is your outermost layer keep that in mind.

the same thing happened to mine. all you need is more patience, it took me a really long time to get it perfect, just a whole lot of goo gone and buffing does the trick, and maybe an hour and a half or so.

Well I took the Acura off of mine and basically used wax and rubbing compound and its gone for good.

Well, I finally got the clay bar today (Meguires) and it worked! Would have posted this earlier but I have been working on it all day. Well, it took out most of the outline and all of the ghosting. The only part that still kinda (just barely showed) was where I went a little too hard on that credit card and finger nail. I'll take pictures and post em tomorrow along with unleashing of my first mod I have ever done on my car. Now I gotta start on the "3.0 CL" part..

yeah around here its kinda the same, ive seen only one modded one as far as I can tell it had exhaust, and clear corners, and another tht just has a drop and intake....... the rest are older people driving it as its luxury coupe side

I have seen I think 4 CLs. Only 1 in my city. And the other 3 are in 3 of my neighboring citys. So Im like a lone wolf up here in Ohio. lol

That's exactly how mine looked... All I did was found a hard plastic handle to a big brush and wrapped it in a soft cloth and buffed it out.. It took a while but it came off... It looked exactly like that I thought the paint was eaten away but It all came off.. I used goo gone too..

Rubbing compound (really would have saved you all troubles in the first place) would nullify all that very quickly, and at this point will even easily take care of those little scratches from the CC/fingernail -- you will be amazed. And no worries, if you go by hand (without a buffer), and don't use ridiculous pressure, it would take you a year to get through acura clearcoat.
Clay rocks as a detailing step, but from the pics, that job looks tailor made for a start with some fine cut RC like 3m -- then a good microfine polish like 3m then clay to lift invisible contaminants then a good sealant like wolfgang for long-term protection/gloss then a good nanowax like nxt to shine like a god I do the above every 6 months, and even my shitty subaru paint still beads and has depth after every simple hi-pressure spray (I don't even use soap @ the wash bay) all year round. It's a lot of work for a few days, but a wash basically has the appearance of a full wax thereafter, and your finish will forever feel like a baby's ass for the effort. One day when I was finishing up a wax, I saw a bug land on my hood and slide off like a ball bearing, lol.
I wish I still had acura paint to work with; out of every oem, I think only lexus has an acura-competitive paint appearance, imo.

Finnaly able to post this pics. I have absolutely NO time for anything on week days. Morning = Highschool, Afternoon = College dual credit, Night = Drivers ed. Anyway, this is how it turned out with the clay bar:




When I get around to the "3.0 CL" emblem, I'm going to use rubbing compound like some of you have mentioned for sure. It took like, 4 intense hard rubbing hours with that claybar to get that..

BTW, here is my first mod ever! Didn't want to make a whole thread on just this so might as well post it here.
