rpm surging...please help!

I have a 97 Cl 2.2 5 speed, and for a while the rpm would surge up and down every time I start it, but would act normal after it warmed up. Now it does it all the time even when it is already warmed up. I know the IAC runs off of the coolant and if it is low it will do that, but the coolant is fine and I bled out all of the air. I checked for vacuum leaks but couldn't find any. Has anyone had this problem? What should I do? Thanks

remove it from the intake and take the cover off of it. if the screen is clogged with gunk you can clean it and it should work like new. if its not gummed up or you clean it and the problem is still there i would recommend replacement.

so they recall them before 120,o00? My CL is at 101,000. If I bring mine to the dealer they should do it for free?

if it was a vaccum leak your rpms would just stay high.

Problem solved!

Well...I took the IAC off of my friends 97 accord...and tried it on mine but it didn't work. I took some other idle control, (the one that sits right beneath the throttle body), off. There is a back plate with two 8mm screws that I took off. There was a plastic nut that holds some spring in that was off. I screwed it in all the way and put it back on. Started up and idled like a champ. Saved some money. thanks for the help though.
