Optima Batteries-Which one do I need?

Hey guys. I am in the process of frying my interstate battery lol. I've left my lights on 3 times and I'm gunna need a new battery soon, I can feel it. On top of that, I am going to be getting a system in my car so I was told I should start by getting a good optima battery.

I have no idea what optima battery to get tho so I was hoping you could tell me. This is what I have/am getting in my car for my system.

HU-Clarion DXZ855mp (installed)
Comps-RE re 6.5" comps (60-80 watts rms per comp side)
Rear fills-stock (might upgrade but will run off headunit)
Comps Amp-Soundstream Van Gogh 400.2 2 channel amp (100 watts rms per side)
Sub-One or possibly 2 Eclipse titanium SW9122 (750 watts rms, 1500 peak per sub)
Amp-SOmething that can handle this amount of power haha

So guys, what do you think I shoudl go with? And any good sites you can refer me to to get this battery? thx guys

um, blue is marine, im sure it would work, id suggest a yellow top... those have the most stored charge and will allow you to use the system with the engine off for a while and give you some forgiveness with lights being left on etc.

i got a red, its tons better than stock, but ive heard nothing but good about the yellow. the blue is a deep cycle battery, and if it ever goes low it will kill ur alternator when it tries to recharge it. its perfect for a second/audio battery tho.

For stock everything, I would say the red top.

for what you need, sounds like a yellow top is better for you. That's what I'm ordering next week for mine. You need the smaller of the 2 sizes too, keep that in mind. Yellow is deep cycle, and is designed for more drain from audio, with your system, yellow would be better than red.

It shouldn't be overly hard on the alt, the yellow tops are designed to drain slow, with the deep cycle technology. Plus while your car is running, your alt puts out more than enough power to charge a variety of battery amp powers. I would suggest upgrading the alt for serious power drain (ie big wattage amps) but I don't think that it's absolutely neccesary.

I've been asking about the size for forever, noone has given an exact model that will fit. I was told to use the smaller of the 2 sizes, which I verified with Interstate to be correct, since our cars take a 25 family battery. That would be

D75/25 or D35 for yellow top

or
25 & 35 or 75/25 models for red top.

Any of those models will fit, depending on how much you wanna spend, and the cranking amps that you want.

I personally am getting the D75/25 Yellow top.

A good place to buy these would be ebay (from a repuatable place) A car parts store such as pep boys or advanced auto, or any number of online stores. Just the model number and optima yellow, for example D75/25 optima yellow, and you'll find a number of online sellers. Hope this helps

after 5 years of having my yellow top battery, it's still putting out 865 cold cranking amps. I stand behind my yellow top all the way. (i just measured my battery last week with my Snap-on micro-vat battery tester)

the yellow top and the blue top are the same battery. the blue top just has extra connectors for trolling motors and other stuff. They are both a deep cycle battery. get a
bigger red top if you plan on using the car as normal and just doing daily driving. get the yellow top if you have the system on a lot without the car running.

I believe the yellow tops go for around $150, I don't have our price sheet on hand. Check your phone book and see if there is a local Interstate Batteries, that's who delivers all our Optima.

Almost all Blue and yellow tops are the same. Both are deep cycle batteries. Blue is a little better cuz of how the extra post are set up. But I've seen something similar on some yellows. But definitely would pick blue first or yellow second. blue makes a great secondary battery if ur already running a red or yellow top already. If you're running a lot of assessories like a bumpin system w/TV's, and lights. U know, the whole sha-bang! Blue is the way to go!
