just read all the grill threads and just need a little more help

ok so i read ALL of the custom grill threads and i went to home depot earlier today and bough gutter guard..i got 4 sheets for like 5$...the sheets came with a curve in them..For those of you who bought the same stuff- did you flatten out the sheet? Or will it do just fine with the curve? Also, when i take out the grill (97 grill) and cut the gutter guard, how do i fasten it to the chrome molding so it will stay on when i put it back in? Anyone leave the black inner part instead of using a dremmel to take it out? I want to leave the black crap in, is it possible?

So you want to put the mesh over your existing grill, but have it placed behind the chrome trim like this?

Another approach would be to weld some bolts to the mesh so it fits into the hood and you can tighten it into place, then put the chrome trim over it.
You can use monkey glue or something like it to glue on the trim.
Good luck. Try not to destroy your factory grill.

my way.......

Not very close but.... i took the grill out, Bought a Dremil, and took out the factory black plastic mesh. Then wet sanded to make it smooth. then prime, then flat black. Then painted the center thing that you cant take out and painted it flat black too. It looks really good up close. And ya if you are going to use that mesh crap, you can use Gorilla glue but dont use alot, cuz that stuff expands then looks like shit, so be carfull. Good luck!~

The welding I was talking about was to attatch bolts to the mesh so the mesh could be screwed into the hood, and the chrome piece could then be attatched ontop of the mesh. Just an option but I do think the one in the 1st picture looks great.
I think Ayougo's grill looks the best but it takes a lot more work and risk.
