What RPM does your engine Idle at once it is warmed up? My needle always used to point to one "tick" below 1000. But ever since about 30K miles, its been sometimes idling at 2 "ticks" below the 1000, and it seems to run rough sometimes at this idle.

I questioned the dealer about it a few months ago, and they said they can't adjust the Idle speed, that it's entirely computer controlled. And when they worked on the car, they claimed they didn't notice any shaking at idle (which is possible because it doesn't always do it).

I don't know if the 2.3 and 3.0 are that different, but my car, once warmed up, idles around 1000rpm, or like you said, sometimes a tick below. Currently I'm a tad over 53k miles.....

Same here, I just pasted 40k, and my car idles at 1k. Never had any shaking though..something wrong with your trans.?

Mine seems to be the same, less 1000 RPMs (maybe 750-800 RPMs). No shaking. Just got over 40k couple weeks ago.

i have a 99 2.3 too --im just at 14K --- mine idles at TWO clicks below also--i thought last summer it idled a little rough but only when the A/C was on --now in the winter i usually have the defrost on and have forgotten pretty much about it -- to clarify what "idles rough" is I mean only that the whole car would SURGE for about 3 seconds and the RPM would go down even more and back up --other than that it doesnt idle badly- it just surges on occasion
