Does anyone one know how to do that? Yes I've looked in the DIY section but that's not for the ball joint kit. Is it best just to install the ball joint kit and then pay some one to adjust my camber to spec or is that something you can do yourself? Also what about the rear camber will a mechanic actually do the rear washer trick and replace the stock bolts and add washers to it to adjust the camber in the rear?

yes and yes

Personally if you don't know what you're doing, just have the mechanic do both. Pressing ball joints in is a bitch, you also will want an alignment / camber adjustment after you get your height where you want it. But until you get there, you can just center the balljoints, it works pretty well. If you put the height where you want it, just get everything done at once

Actually I read the instructions that came with them and I got a pretty good understanding of how to install them. I think I could do that and then drive down somewhere and let them align it. ACtually maybe not cause the instructions said to torque the nut on the ball joint to 100ftlbs. but they wanted me to do it while the tire was on and the car was off the jack!?!? How is that even possible to get behind the wheel and do that?

you can def do it yourself, w/o serious tools. when they say torquing the nut to the ball joint to 100fr-lbs that doesnt mean you need a torque wrench. of course it would help, but not 100% necessary.

yeah but how do I access the nut with the wheel on?


Well I guess I can do it before I drop the suspension? Is that possible? With my ridiculous wheel gap I guess I'll have enough room before I drop but not after?

room doesnt matter. either way you have to dissasemble your upper control arm assembly.

Jack the car up and take the wheel off

Yeah I know that but then it says to put the wheel back on and remove the jack so that the weight of the car is on the tires and then tighten the control arm mounting bolts to 40ft-lbs. Then Install alignment equipment and set the camber to the manufacturers specs by sliding the adjustable ball join stud in the slot. Tighten the flange lock-nut to 100 ft-lbs. The flange nut is the nut on top of the ball joint.

take wheel off. puit jack under suspension and LIFT it to ride height.
that will simulate a LOADED suspension. tighten everything that way.

Do these tips work for doing a normal ball joint replacement. I need to do all my ball joints, but have been afraid to do it.
