HID Question

I've had a set of HID's before, but they were stolen a few years back. I've decided that I'm going to buy a new set.

I remember reading a few years ago that it would melt your headlight housings if you went over a certain K on the bulbs. Is this true? I tried searching it over again, but I couldn't find it. I was planning on getting 8000k, does anyone else run this? How's it been holding up? And what about 12000k?

HID's burn cooler than regular halogens. stay within a 4300-8000k range

why does everyone like 4300 so much? We just changed my buddies 07 lex gs 350's to 6000k. Everyone has a perference but is it so police dont bother you or because its closer to the same color output of a regular halogen?>

its because 4300k has the best output, anything above that and the tint of the color actually cuts down on output, ever seen those horrible 12000k kits that are super purple but dont light up the road for shit? well thats the other end of the spectrum. 6000k isnt bad, I dont think you'd notice much of a difference outputwise with your eyes but its still not as good as 4300k (again, output wise). Theres a reason why almost all the cars with HIDs come stock with 4300k.

someone crowbared my front end. i posted it about it a few years ago when it happened. they took a crowbar to my headlights and broke them out. it scuffed up my front bumper, curled my fenders, and bent up my hood. it cost $3000 to fix. i had to pay a $200 deductable for my insurance. it sucked, but my car survived and got a new front end and my lip was repainted. my insurance didn't go up.

EDIT: that same year, someone tried to steal my rims and broke my center caps. since then, i haven't been able to buy a new one so have been riding on stocks =\

i thought my 6k in my cl were good,my tl-s(stock 4300k) with the projector is 10x better vision wise. literally night and day difference.....

sidenote: i love hid's, they were my favorite and one of the first mod's on my cl. they not only look but serve a good purpose.......

yes you can. you need a 9006 plug-n-play kit, and in about a half hour you'll be do you NEED projector's no, but they don't hurt

i recommend kaixen or phillips for the brand.....
