Harmonic Balancer Woes
I need to change my timing belt on my 98' 3.0cl and connot get the bolt loose. I've made my own Balancer holding tool. I am using a 1/2 drive snap-on breaker bar and it is not working. I tried my impact wrench, but that did not do it. Is there an easer way?
Thanks, JohnT

You need an extremely long breaker bar. You'll need at least 2 feet in length to create enough torque to loosen that bolt. If you have such a long bar or a pipe to put over it, try it. It should break loose but needs a lot of torque to loosen it. Impact guns will probably not loosen it. And if it does, it may slightly damage your crankshaft in the process from all that vibrating/impacting.

theres lock tite on the bolt from the factory. i did my friends accord 4 cyl. and it took both of us on a 24" long breaker bar to loosten it (i can bench near 280 lbs.). but it can be done. do u have a lift. that would help alot. oh yea make sure the socket u have is exactly the right size cause u can strip out that nut pretty easily.
