Flushing Power Steering Fluid
Has anyone ever flushed or changed their power steering fluid? If so, what are the benefits, and how did you do it? Is this something that even needs to be done? thanks!

I helped my buddy do this to my ack when I got her overhaul done after sitting for 2 years, it's a pain in the ass to sit there and turn the wheel back and forth and exchange all the fluid, he manages a grease monkey and they had a special pump that would exchange the old fluid with new, I'd pay someone to have it done, it's a closed system, but it def helped the turning response a bit, the crap that came out was 10 years old and burnt and nasty

Did u get all the fluid out of the system? Or just the reservoir?

The service manual gives a relatively easy procedure for purging the entire system. I can scan and post it for anyone who's interested.
basically, you suck or drain the old fluid from the reservoir, then take the return hose and insert it into a small container. Have an assistant start the car and turn the wheel lock to lock until there is no more assist -- the system is drained of fluid. Turn the car off and reconnect the return line to the reservoir, then fill to max. Turn the car on and continue filling the reservoir as fluid is sucked back into the system. Turn the wheel from lock to lock several times to bleed, recheck fluid level and you're done! You will need 2 bottles of Honda PSF on the 2.2/2.3.. maybe more for the V6?
I would always recommend changing the PS fluid b/c it is always overlooked and wears down just like transmission or brake fluid would which might eventually hurt the rack or PS pump.
